PLEASE BREAK DOWN YOUR BOXES BEFORE RECYCLING ♻️

Help us keep our community recycling sites clean and usable for everyone! Breaking down cardboard boxes before placing them in the recycling bin helps save valuable space and allows more residents to use the containers properly.

Please also do not leave recycling on the ground. When materials are left outside the bins, they can easily blow around and create litter throughout the area.

If a recycling site is full or needs our attention, please call us at 330-740-2060. We’re happy to help direct you to another nearby recycling location — we have over 25 recycling sites throughout the county available for residents to use.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event 🚨

Mark your calendars! 🗓️ Join us on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Canfield Fairgrounds (SR 46, Gate 9) for our Household Hazardous Waste Drive!

This event is open to Mahoning County households only (no businesses) and is a safe, responsible way to dispose of items like:
✔️ Paints, stains, and thinners
✔️ Household cleaners and chemicals
✔️ Batteries (car & household)
✔️ Pesticides, herbicides, and insecticides
✔️ Fluorescent bulbs
✔️ Motor oil and more!

⚠️ Please note:

* No explosives, pharmaceuticals, or latex paint will be accepted
* There is a 5-gallon limit per container

We are so proud to celebrate another amazing year of our Earth Day Billboard Contest! This year, we had over 500 students participate from more than 10 schools across Mahoning County. The creativity, passion, and environmental awareness shown by these students continues to inspire us, and we hope to see these numbers grow even more in the years to come!

The Mahoning County Green Team is hosting our Household Appliance, Electronic, & Scrap Tire Collection—making it easy to dispose of items responsibly and keep our community looking its best!

🖥️ Accepted Items Include:
• Electronics (TVs, laptops, printers, phones & more)
• Household appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, AC units, etc.)
• Scrap tires (fees apply)

📍 Location: Mahoning County CHaRM – 825 Bev Road, Boardman
🗓️ When: Wednesdays (8 AM – 1 PM) & the last Saturday of the month (April–October)

📣 Applications are OPEN for the 2026 Ohio Counties Scholarship!

Since 2023, the CCAO Research and Educational Foundation has invested $30,000 in 15 young leaders across 14 Ohio counties — helping prepare the next generation of public servants.

🎓 Five scholarships will be awarded.
🗓️ Deadline to apply: May 1

Winter Recycling Reminder ❄️

Please do not place your recycling bin in a pile of snow. If your bin is buried, blocked, or surrounded by deep snow, it may not be collected.

✅ What to do instead:
• Clear a space for your bin
• Place it at the end of a cleared driveway or curb

🚫 What not to do:
• Bury it in snowbanks
• Place it where drivers would need to dig it out

For safety reasons, our drivers will not crawl through snow or unbury bins.

Republic Services will be closed tomorrow and will be running on a one-day delay through Saturday.
Recycling routes will also be delayed.
Please plan accordingly!

Due to the winter weather, the Mahoning County Solid Waste District / Green Team office will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Please stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel. Thank you for your understanding!
