Jacob performed our national anthem with the Lake Effect Trombone Choir at the Guardians game!

We are excited to be back kicking off the fall 2026 semester!
Many of our students remained very active over the summer.
In June, Jacob participated in the Cincinnati Symphony Brass Institute, a week-long intensive where students work closely with members of the CSO’s brass section. And in July–August, he participated in the Bay View Music Festival’s Bay View Brass Seminar, a 4-week chamber music intensive. Both seminars were highly selective via audition process.
In May, Luke traveled to the University of Arizona to participate in the Becker Low Brass Boot Camp, a week-long intensive focusing on orchestral and audition performance preparation.
Also, two recent graduates from the trombone studio were just recently hired as music educators: Emma Fleischaker, MM ’25- Scioto Valley School District, and Cole Castle, BM ’25- Cardinal Mooney High School!

We will miss him dearly.

The Dana School of Music mourns the loss of Dr. Dave Morgan, Professor of Composition and Bass at Youngstown State University.

Throughout his 25-year tenure, Dave Morgan’s humble and generous presence made an immeasurable impact on the Dana School of Music and generations of musicians.

Dave Morgan was a brilliant teacher, composer, bassist, and human. The beauty that surrounded his life was embedded in his musicianship and teaching. His legacy will live on in the musicians he taught, the music he created, and the lives he touched.

We extend our most heartfelt wishes to Dave Morgan’s friends and family.
