The Book Fair is Underway!

The Book Fair will be here all week, September 21st–25th! We have a wonderful variety of books and other goodies for students of all ages.

Students will have the opportunity to shop during the week and find something they’ll love!

Welcome back to a new school year, HORIZON SCIENCE ACADEMY families!

Our school is participating in Box Tops, which means that you can earn cash with the products you already buy to help our school get the supplies it needs.

Our goal is to earn $500.00 through Box Tops this year to help purchase Classroom Supplies.

Here's how you can help:

If you haven't done so already, download the Box Tops app on your smartphone.
Buy Box Tops products, scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase and earn for HORIZON SCIENCE ACADEMY with every Box Tops product you buy.
Turn on notifications in your Box Tops app to get scan reminders and stay updated on special offers, new products and opportunities to earn for our school. Go to your Communications Settings by clicking on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app.

In honor of Patriot Day, we organized a food drive to support our local community. So many of our families donated a generous amount of nonperishable food items, and all of the donations will be delivered to Our Community Kitchen here in Youngstown.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped support such a worthy cause. Your generosity and kindness truly make a difference in our community!

On Friday 08/28 during SEL, our 8A students participated in a fun and meaningful Cup Tower Teamwork Challenge. Students worked in teams to see which group could build the highest tower using cups.

Although the activity seemed simple, it quickly became a great lesson about teamwork, communication, different points of view, and problem-solving. Students had to listen to one another, share their ideas, make decisions together, and overcome complications when their plans did not work as expected.

The activity helped students understand that reaching a goal is not always easy. Sometimes we have to try again, listen to different perspectives, make adjustments, and work through challenges as a team.
