Today marks the start of Hispanic Heritage Month and we want to celebrate our local organizations like OCCHA, Inc., Thrive Mahoning Valley and The English Center of Youngstown that are working to support Hispanic people in the Valley and help them build a home here!

The English Center is a non-profit charitable organization that currently teaches English to 90 people from across 25 different countries.
As Mahoning Valley Welcoming Week 2019 approaches, we wanted to take a moment and express our gratitude and appreciation to the groups and organizations who have joined us on this journey to a more welcoming Valley. Each of the events below is happening because of the efforts of the wonderful collaborators listed on the right. Please support them... We are profoundly sad to share the news that Bobbi Grinstein, our beloved founder, has passed away. Bobbi touched the lives of countless people at The English Center and she will be forever in our hearts as we continue to celebrate her legacy.

Due to a positive case of the Corona Virus now present in the Warren area, The English Center will be closed for classes on Friday, March 13. Students are asked to meet their teacher in the parking lot of the school between 9:00 am and 10:00 am on Friday, March 13 to receive a packet of homework. Students should contact their teacher with any questions. The English Center will reopen for classes on Monday, April 20.

Our Story
FREE English language classes for all adult English Language Learners. We are not affiliated with any religion. Adults of all cultures, religions and ethnic backgrounds are welcome.
We offer a variety of levels of instruction ranging from Basic/Fundamental skills to TOEFL/College Level test preparation skills.
All of our teachers are caring, dedicated and experienced!
Our mission is to help foreign-born students learn the English language, become competent in English literacy, and adjust to life in America. We help students develop the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills necessary to achieve job readiness, meet entrance requirements for higher education or trade school courses, and prepare for test or licensing examinations such as GED, TOEFL and citizenship.
