Girls 4x200 Division I District Runner-Up…Advancing to regionals…

Alyssa Brown advances to regionals in the girls 200M with a new personal best.

Special shoutout to Alyssa Brown 100M, Elsha Perkins 400M & 200M, and boys 4x200 all falling one spot short of advancing to regionals. Freshman Aaliyah Jackson also added a personal best in the discus.

The month of MAY has been BUSY, but FULFILLING 🤠

The MAC Experience LLC shared the stage with our CMS and CHS dance program last night for their Spring Show ✌🏽… We continue to be blown away by the work Mr.Cotton has done with our students. Last night was definitely a ✌🏽 experience.

Chaney graduation practice is tomorrow May 16, 2024 at Stambaugh Auditorium at 9:00am. Students must provide their own transportation and they must be in attendance.

Chaney High School Final Exam Schedule begins tomorrow:
Breakfast- 7:00-7-20
Study period - 7:20-7:45
First Final - 7:45-9:15 (7th period)
Class Change- 9:15-9:25
Second Final - 9:25-10:55. (6th period)
Lunch 11:00-11:30
Dismissal - 11:30 (busses will arrive at 11:30)

Last night we were able to celebrate our amazing staff district wide at the 2nd Annual YCSD Honors Banquet…Chaney was represented well ❤️

Attention Prom Participants:
Parking is available in the lot on Hazelwood (teachers parking lot)

If you are being dropped off, there will be doors open on Overlook near the auditorium.

Information is being circulated online that Youngstown City Schools was not allowing scholars with special needs to attend the Chaney High School prom. This is absolutely false. In the past, Chaney had two proms, one being for scholars with special needs. Actually, many scholars attended both events. This year, the decision was made to have one central prom for all scholars. The letter that was distributed needed to indicate this. We sincerely apologize for any miscommunication. YCSD is an institution that prides itself on equity and inclusion, and any such practice that veers from that is not who we are.

Chaney Graduation Information

Students must pay their $175 dues or fill out a TANF form in order for Job and Family Services to pay the $175 dues. (You must have a case number with JFS to fill out the TANF).

Senior Dues must be paid by 5/3/24. Seniors will not receive their cap and gown until we receive the $175 dues or the completed TANF.

Graduation Expectations and Dates:

May 8, 2024 - Senior dues or TANF due, cap and gown pass out. Senior sign hand out

May 9, 20234- Senior dues or TANF due, cap and gown pass out. Senior Sign hand out

May 13-15 Senior Final Exams (All students must be present for finals)

May 14-15, 2024 - Senior Chromebook collection during lunch. You must turn in your chromebook or you will be charged $250 and you will not receive your diploma

May 16, 2024 - Senior Breakfast 9:00am Stambaugh
Auditorium (Students must have a ride to Stambaugh Auditorium). THIS BREAKFAST IS FOR GRADUATES ONLY

May 16, 2023 - Graduation practice 10:00am-12:00pm at Stambaugh Auditorium (Graduates must have a ride home from Stambaugh Auditorium). Graduates must be present at practice to walk on May 20th.

May 20, 2024 - Graduation day!! 10:00am Stambaugh Auditorium (Doors open to Graduates at 8:30am. Graduates must arrive at no later than 9:00am to line up). Doors will open at 9:00am for guests.

Graduates you may decorate your cap for graduation. You will wear any cords or stoles that you have earned from the district. You CAN NOT decorate your stoles.

Empowered Vote tonight at Chaney!

The deadline to apply for summer school is Monday, May 6th. If your scholar has failed any courses that are required for graduation, he/she will need to attend summer school for credit recovery in order to make up those credits. You can find the link to apply on our Chaney page, on the Chaney website, or attached to this text. If you are unsure about whether or not your scholar needs to attend summer school, please call the school at 330-744-8822 and ask to speak to the appropriate grade level school counselor.
