Student Government Association is excited to announce the return of food trucks to campus this week, starting today at 11am. The trucks will be located on Lincoln Ave in-front of Silvestri Hall. Because of this, parking in-front of Silvestri Hall will be coned off all week.

Student Government Association is proud to support this years annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event hosted by the on this coming Thursday, April 20th from 7pm-8pm in the Watts Training Center on Campus. All proceeds raised from this event are donated directly to the YWCA to fight domestic violence.

To donate, all you have to do is sign out a complementary YSU student ticket! Stop in ASAP to support this worthy cause!

This coming week is Tech Recycling and Goodwill Drive week here on campus. We will be tabling daily all week to accept your tech donations or anything you want donated to Goodwill. Tabling will occur from 10am-2pm. Monday we will be tabling in the Lower Arcade, and the rest of the week we will be tabling in the Cove.

Tomorrow April 12th from 11am-1pm we will be tabling for Be the Match outside Kilcawley Center. Be the Match is a registry that exists to help provide bone marrow donations to those who suffer from blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma and other life-threatening diseases. It takes less than 5 minutes to sign up. We hope to see you all tomorrow!

Today and Tomorrow are our annual Student Government Association elections! Polls opened at 8am this morning, and detailed instructions on how to vote should be available in your YSU email! Polls will remain open till 8pm tomorrow. Make sure you as students make your voice heard and vote in this year’s elections!

We also have an in person polling location in the Lower Arcade of Kilcawley Center (By Jamba Juice) from 11am-2pm today and tomorrow.

We hope you all get a chance to enjoy them as the weather warms up. Thanks to everyone who helped make these tables possible!

Last weekend, Student Government Executive Team members had the opportunity to attend the OSGS conference at the University of Akron.

The summit was truly enlightening and we had an opportunity to collaborate with members of different student governments all across the state. A special shout out to our new friends from and everyone we got to know at the conference!

Then vs. Now

Youngstown State Student Government Association traces its roots all the way back to 1926. This was back before we were a public university, called simply Youngstown College. Our first Student Government body was called Student Council, and had an executive team consisting of a President, Vice President, and Secretary/Treasurer.

This is part of our new Questions with Administrators initiative. Be on the look out for the first question response posted on Monday. We would like to thank President Tressel for taking the time out of his schedule to sit down with us as Student Government so that we can better advocate on students behalf.

One of the most important things Student Government Association does for you is advocate on your behalf to faculty, staff, and the university administration. Because of this we are so excited to announce a new initiative, Questions with Administrators. Our first Administrator participating in this is President Tressel!

Submit your questions for President Tressel via our Instagram submission box or by email, and he will answer them via video recording on Monday January 23rd.

We look forward to hearing what you as students want to see or do hear on campus, and want to thank President Tressel for taking the time to participate in this new initiative!

Check out this Corn hole tournament coming up on January 12th at 6pm in Beeghly Center. There are prizes for the top 4 teams that compete!

Prizes include Browns/Cavs prize packs, Pro Football Hall of Fame Museum tickets, Signed YSU Basketballs by Jim Tressel, as well as Jerrod Calhoun and John Barnes
Signed YSU mini helmets.

The first-place team will have first choice of prizes, followed by second and so forth.

Student Government Association would like to thank all of you for your participation and generosity in Swipe Out Hunger Week this year!

Thanks to you, we were able to raise $1000 in donation funds through our raffle baskets alone. This doesn’t include food drive donations or meal swipes! Our raffle basket winners were announced at Friendsgiving yesterday. If you weren’t there and still won don’t worry, someone will be or already has reached out to you via the contact info on your ticket.

Join in with the spirit of giving and create something meaningful. Chi Alpha and the Student Government Association will help you get tied in by making tie blankets!

We will also have our raffle baskets set up. All proceeds from that are being donated to the Penguin Pantry.

Today, the Student Government Association partnering with for a tie dye t shirt swap as part of our continued Swipe Out Hunger Week programing.
