Today our kindergarten students had the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills in a very special way...by reading to our 8th-grade students!
The younger students did a wonderful job practicing their fluency, expression, and confidence while sharing stories with their older peers. Our 8th graders were encouraging role models, making the experience even more meaningful for the kindergartners.
It was a great reminder that learning happens at every age and that building connections across grade levels helps strengthen our entire school community. We are so proud of our young readers and grateful to our 8th graders for taking the time to listen and support them today!

Our 6th-grade students had an amazing time at Eastwood Field today watching YSU take on Milwaukee! βΎοΈ
Students enjoyed a great day at the ballpark filled with baseball, school spirit, and fun memories with friends. They had the opportunity to interact with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers mascot, explore the stadium, and cheer on the teams throughout the game. Several students even caught souvenir baseballs during the game!
Despite the chilly weather, our students represented our school wonderfully and had a fantastic experience together. Thank you to everyone who helped make this field trip possible!

Weβre proud to share that twenty students from Akiva Academy, along with English Language Arts teacher Ms. Jodi West, recently participated in the Youngstown State University English Festival and were recognized for their outstanding reading and writing achievements!
Now in its 48th year, this incredible event brings together nearly 3,000 middle and high school students from across Ohio and Pennsylvania. Students read seven selected books and take part in writing contests, book discussions, and creative workshops.
Several of our Akiva students earned honors in essay writing and other competitionsβa true reflection of their hard work, dedication, and love of literature. We are so proud of the effort they put in over the past few months to prepare for this experience.
Congratulations to all of our participants on this well-deserved recognition! πβ¨
