Choffin Culinary Arts

Congratulations to my juniors who have been selected to represent Choffin Career & Technical Center, Youngstown City School District in the Ohio Grown : Student Chef Showcase. They were selected from teams across Ohio to compete in a live cooking competition at Columbus State Community College on May 8. They created a Defenders Power Lunch that they will now taste test amount their peers at school and modify based on feedback, all while adhering to the school lunch guidelines. To say I am proud is an understatement!

Choffin Culinary Alumni I need your help. I am gathering information on your success! Could you please let me know what you are doing even if it’s not in the Hospitality field? If you are not in the hospitality field, let me know how your training at Choffin prepared you for your current position or life skills you gained. Include you graduation year, chef is getting old and the years are running together! I can’t wait to see what you all are up to these days!

Choffin’s first Market Day is in the books. It was a huge success! Thank you to our construction technology students and their instructor, Kevin Sinkele for our flat Stanley Food Truck!

Mr. Batchelor, our superintendent, stopped by to visit 'Stanley' before the board meeting tonight. Unfortunately, he has another commitment in Columbus on Friday and won't be able to make it to 'Stanley's' debut at Market Day, but you can still come see 'Stanley' at Choffin Career & Technical Center from 8:30 - 1:30!

An extraordinary Field Trip experience! The young participants were in their comfort zone of a kitchen, showcasing their potential and actively engaging in the learning process. Their reluctance to leave indicates the trip's success in broadening their horizons and encouraging them to pursue opportunities.

We are heading to Cuyahoga Community College today for a Cook Along!! To say my students are excited is an understatement, to be completely honest I can’t wait either. I’m looking forward to seeing their faces when they see what a post secondary class is like and most importantly I can’t wait to learn something new!!!
