🇺🇸 SEPTEMBER 11 • WE WILL NEVER FORGET 🇺🇸
Twenty-five years ago today, September 11, 2001, began as an ordinary Tuesday morning.
By the time that day ended, our nation had been forever changed.
Today, the Burke School of Irish Dance pauses to remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, the families who left home that morning never knowing it would be their final goodbye, and the countless lives forever altered by the events of that day.
We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, first responders, members of our military, and ordinary Americans who ran toward danger when every instinct told them to run away.
We remember the passengers and crew of Flight 93, whose extraordinary courage prevented an already unimaginable day from becoming even more devastating.
And 25 years later, we remember something else, too.
We remember September 12.
We remember a nation that mourned together. Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers embraced. American flags appeared on porches and storefronts across the country. In one of our darkest moments, we were reminded of just how much can unite us.
For our young dancers, September 11 is history they did not personally witness. That makes it our responsibility to tell its story—to teach them about the lives that were lost, the heroes who emerged, the sacrifices that followed, and why the words “Never Forget” must be more than something we say once a year.
Today, we remember the fallen.
We honor the heroes.
We hold their families in our hearts.
And we teach the next generation to remember.
