⛵️ Happy National Coaches Day! ⛵️

Today we celebrate the incredible sailing coaches who give so much of their time, energy, knowledge, and heart to our sailors. 💙

You teach far more than how to tack, gybe, or find the perfect line. You teach confidence, perseverance, teamwork, sportsmanship, independence, and how to handle both calm waters and challenging conditions.

Thank you for early mornings, long days on the water, rigging boats, chasing sailors around the racecourse, loading trailers, answering endless questions, and cheering from the coach boat. Most of all, thank you for the friendships, memories, and love of sailing you help create.

Our sailors may forget a few race results over the years, but they won’t forget the coaches who believed in them, challenged them, encouraged them, and helped them become better sailors—and better people.

To all of our sailing coaches: THANK YOU!

⚓ Rockin’ Chair —

For the last 50 years, Rockin’ Chair has been part of the fabric of the Youngstown Yacht Club.

This boat and the teams who sailed her have proudly represented YYC at hundreds of events and built a reputation as one of the winningest boats on Lake Ontario.

Two weeks ago, the Chair returned to Youngstown from Sodus Point for her final chapter. Rockin’ Chair has been a big part of the Doyle family story.

To help cover the remaining marina, disposal, and trucking expenses, a GoFundMe was started. The original fundraising goal has been met covering those expenses, any additional funds will go to the Youngstown Community Boating Foundation in Rockin’ Chair’s name.

⚓️ Our hope is to raise enough to have one of their boats named Rockin’ Chair — allowing the name and spirit of this special boat to continue on the water.

We think Skip and Edith would approve. ⛵️

Good luck to Luke Kaiser, the youngest competitor at the Rolex Big Boat Series, sailing aboard the J/105 Donkey Jack with dad, Youngstown Junior Sailing alum Rolf Kaiser.

Also in the video is Ray Lotto, the oldest competitor at the regatta, sailing aboard Hypatia with Youngstown Junior Sailing alumni Emily, Jordan, and Morgan Paxhia.

Pretty special to see such a wide range of generations out on the racecourse together!

🇺🇸 🍬 Thank you to the Village of Youngstown for hosting another fantastic Labor Day Parade! We had a wonderful turnout of our Junior Sailors and parents all coming together to be part of the celebration.

The streets were lined with happy faces, big smiles, and lots of parade spirit! ❤️💙

We’re so grateful to be part of such a wonderful community and loved seeing so many familiar faces along the route.
