Friday, September 25: Dolly Day!

YCSD is partnering with the United Way to celebrate Dolly Day this Friday, September 25. There are several ways to participate and celebrate Dolly Parton's legacy and commitment to literacy:

🎀Pink Out – Scholars and staff wear pink in honor of Dolly.
📚Stop, Drop & Read at 2:00 PM – They are encouraging schools across the Valley to stop what they are doing at 2:00 PM and spend some time reading. It can be as simple as having students grab a book and read in their classrooms.
🎤Dolly Banner –Create a Dolly-themed banner for students to sign as a way to celebrate and commemorate Dolly’s impact on literacy. United Way would love to display these throughout the community.

Tonight we celebrate every single staff member/volunteer that has anything to do with helping our scholars excel!
For the first time in what I can remember, our YCSD is 3 Stars! So proud of our YCSD!!!!
And RECMS is a 4 Star School again! Up one WHOLE star from last year! Way to go Tigers!!!

Some other really cool data just in:
Of 17 5-8 schools in Region 5, RECMS ranked 1st in year over year improvement in Performance Index and Value Added Growth Index and 2nd in Gap Closing improvement.
RECMS also ranked 3rd of 110 statewide 5-8 schools in overall rating point improvement, and gap closing improvement year over year. And 5th in Value Added improvement.
It’s an honor to work with our amazing YCSD and RECMS staff, families, and scholars - day in and day out! Your professionalism, positivity, perseverance, and love for learning is reflected in everything you do! Celebrate your victory-you sure did earn it!

*If your child is a car rider-you must now pick up your child in the parking lot on Overlook and we will get your child safely to you. It is too big of a danger zone with buses and cars on the street. Car Riders and Walkers will now come out the side of the gym and on to the sidewalk by the parking lot for you to collect.
**Thursday is World Su***de Prevention Day, and we are asking everyone to wear yellow to support this important cause.
***NWEA is off to a good start. Please come rested and ready kids!
****YSU Tix will be coming to you this week.
*****Join us this Friday at the Rayen Stadium as the Defenders take on Ursuline. ALL MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHOLARS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT OR THEY WILL NOT BE GRANTED ADMISSION. See ya' there! xoxo
