Preschool enrollment for the Youngstown City School District is open! We are thrilled to announce that preschool classes will be housed right inside each elementary building, making the transition to kindergarten easier than ever. 🏫✨

The Summer Food Service Program is back at PLYMC!

In partnership with the Children’s Hunger Alliance, we’re providing free meals to anyone 18 and younger. Meals are available Monday through Friday from 12-1 p.m. at East, Michael Kusalaba and Main Library.

The food must be eaten while visiting the library location. The program runs through July 31 and is funded by the Children's Hunger Alliance.

Board of Education Meeting Update ➡️ Beginning today, and all summer, the Youngstown Board of Education will meet at 4:30 p.m. instead of its regular meeting time of 5:00 p.m. Unless otherwise stated from the district, board meetings are held at 20 W Wood Street on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

Our scholars are sharpening their math and literacy skills, in a camp-themed summer program, filled with learning and fun. Shout out to the summer school team for keeping our scholars imaginations fueled!

Join us in congratulating the YCSD Defender Ambassadors for earning one of the Student Standout Awards at the annual Ohio School Safety Summit. 🙌

The award goes to students who demonstrate proactive and reactive measures that they take to keep their school communities and fellow classmates safe. The Defender Ambassadors are a group of scholars from Chaney and East Middle and both high schools, who worked together all school year to come up with solutions for student safety, team building, creating campaigns, and more.

We are incredibly proud of our scholars, and thankful to Guy Burney who led this group and truly helped bring everyone together. And another shout out to Mr. Burney who also earned a Champion Award, which goes to a recipient who doesn't work for a school, but is committed to keeping Ohio's schools a safe place to learn and grow.

This morning, we celebrated the final graduation ceremony of the season for East High School.

The Class of 2026 were recognized for earning over $1 million in scholarships! This amazing achievement shows just how dedicated and future-focused these scholars truly are.

We also extend our thanks to East High alumnus and Assistant Principal, Artemus Scissum, for serving as the keynote speaker.

While this marks an end of an incredible era at East High, it is definitely not the last class of YCSD graduates. Our district will continue to grow and pave the way for future scholars.
