Meet Winifred Keneah ’22 🐧👋
Winifred is a graduate of YSU, earning her Bachelor of Arts in General Studies in 2022. She currently serves as the Housing Coordinator at Ravenwood Health, where she oversees housing programs and connects individuals and families experiencing homelessness with stable housing and supportive services. Using her public health background, she works to strengthen programs, improve outcomes, and advocate for vulnerable communities.
Reflecting on her time at the university, Winifred shared: “My experience at YSU helped shape my passion for serving others and gave me the educational foundation to begin working with vulnerable and underserved populations. Through my career in housing, I saw firsthand how stable housing, mental health, and access to resources directly affect a person’s overall well-being, which inspired me to pursue a Master of Public Health and continue advocating for healthier, stronger communities.”
When asked about why she remains engaged with YSU as an alumna, Winifred emphasized the importance of staying connected to give back and support current students. She also looks back fondly on her time outside the classroom—particularly when the African Student Association collaborated with the Student Diversity Council to host African Night. As a West African, she recalls it as a wonderful experience that brought people together to celebrate the richness of African culture and a moment where she felt proud to share her heritage with the YSU community.
