Join me in congratulating our very own Kathleen (Katie) Compton DCE, in receiving the Specialty Practitioner of the Year Award (SPOTY) for education from the Ohio Society for Respiratory Care. Katie was chosen from the entire state of Ohio and within a field of many worthy nominees.
Katie is an amazing individual that breaths life into everything she takes on, integrity, passion and perseverance are just a few attributes that can be bestowed upon Katie her attention to detail and a can do attitude make her well deserving of this prestigious honor.
Also I would be remiss If i didn't mention another one of our amazing respiratory care alumni, Mr Alex Mostoller RRT a respiratory care program graduate and Director of Respiratory Care at Ohman family Living, received the Specialty Practitioner of the Year Award for Long term Care .
Congratulations to both of these amazing individuals that consistently make a difference in student education and patient and societal health.... Well done!!

This year let’s commit to inspiring and recruiting more RTs to join our ranks. Every day, we see firsthand the incredible impact respiratory therapists have on patient care—and we know that with more of us, we can make a big impact.
We need your help to elevate our profession by reaching out, mentoring, and sharing the opportunities that await future RTs. Together, we can create pathways to recruit and inspire the next generation of respiratory therapists. 💪
How can we make this happen?
- Promote our profession by sharing stories of what it means to be an RT
- Support HOSA and get involved with schools to spark student interest
- Mentor students and guide them through the credential process
- Advocate for RT recognition at every level, so future professionals see the importance of our work
