The Mahoning Valley Community School is a trauma informed, dropout prevention and recovery community school. Students do not have to be referred to attend.
It is sponsored by the Office of School Sponsorship at the Ohio Department of Education. The school is intended to serve youth who need an opportunity to get on track with their academics. Mahoning County High School is an open enrollment community school and serves students in grades 7-12. All students will go through a screening process to assess needs.

We have lots of exciting things going on at MVCS. A visit from our therapy dog, Students of the Week (Congrats Nova and Luke) and tons of progress on our new addition!
The Mahoning Valley Community School will be closed on Friday, April 17, 2026. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of our student and will stand together with them in grief and support.
Let us honor his young life by showing kindness, choosing peace and lifting each other up while holding close the connections that make our community strong. Please know how much we value each of you. 🖤🩶🖤🩶
