How to Submit a Volunteer Opportunity for Promotion

YSU PenguinPulse allows anyone to submit a volunteer opportunity for potential publishing and promotion on the platform.

To submit an opportunity, go to ysu.givepulse.com and scroll down to click on the “Submit Opportunity” button on the right side of the page.

Please submit your request no less than two weeks out from the intended date. This gives us time to reach out to the contact if necessary, edit, and properly promote the opportunity to students.

Did you know that YSU PenguinPulse creates a printable summary of your volunteerism for you?

This can be a great asset to attach to resumes or applications, and it’s easy to access.

Just log into YSU PenguinPulse, click the user drop-down menu, and select “Impact Summary” to find your record and print!

An impact is any form of community engagement activity (hours served, money raised, goods donated, etc.) that you track in YSU PenguinPulse.

If you took part in a volunteer opportunity that you registered for in YPP, then go to that event page and click the “Add Impact” button to begin filling out the form to track your service.

If you volunteered independently, simply click the user drop-down menu in YPP and select “Add Impact.”

In general, do NOT choose the “Add Impact” button from the main YPP home page. Only use this option if you volunteered for the university

How to write in the correct organization on your impact…

When you volunteer, you can create an impact in YSU PenguinPulse. But you want to make sure you have the correct organization listed.

Last semester, TILT hosted the 4th Annual Financial Networking Night—another successful evening of networking and opportunity.

You’re using YSU PenguinPulse to track your volunteerism and community engagement. But then you get an email saying that one of your impacts was disputed.

Most of the time, this happens for one of two reasons:

⚠️ Your impact does not count as community service/engagement, or

⚠️ You assigned the wrong organization/verifier to your impact.

If your dispute revolves around the first reason, there’s not much else to do; your hours won’t be counted in the impact since impacts are only created to track community engagement.

If it’s a dispute about the organization you listed, then there is a quick fix.

We’ve put together the following video that walks you through the few steps you can take to fix and resubmit your disputed impact.
