Seven projects and one big goal: Level I Certification. 🎉 This group worked through rolling, texturing, repairing, finishing, paste, syringe work and more, turning Art Clay into 99.9% fine silver along the way. Congratulations to our students on completing a seriously busy week and earning their certification! And a big thank you to Pat Lillie for getting them across the finish line.

Warm it. Knead it. Pull it like taffy. Then cast it in metal. 🤯 This centuries-old Japanese technique gave students those incredible ribbon-like, flowing textures you see in these pieces, and they even learned to make the special Mitsuro wax from scratch. Amazing work from our Master Class students, and a huge thank you to Jennifer Stenhouse for bringing Mitsuro Hikime to William Holland!

There’s really only one way to get better at stone setting: put your butt in the seat and SET SOME STONES. 😂 This crew did plenty of that, working their way from the basics into more challenging settings and building confidence with every one. Show & Tell says the practice paid off! Great job, everyone, and thank you to Heather Blum for keeping those butts in seats and stones in settings.

Rubies. Sapphires. Topaz. CZ. Not exactly a bad lineup for the week. 😍 This Faceting II crew got experience cutting a variety of materials, each with its own quirks to figure out. They handled the challenge beautifully! Congrats to the faceters, and thank you to John Elliott for putting them through their paces.

There’s something dangerously addictive about watching a dull slab get prettier with every trip around the cabbing machine. This group officially found out why so many of us have way too many rocks! Congrats on your first cabs, everyone! And thank you to David Sherrod for feeding the addiction.
