We don't usually post obituaries on this page. While we would like to acknowledge the passing of every Falcon, the volume might overwhelm our administrators. However, today we are saddened to report the passing of a 1979 Falcon who was very involved with the 2004 York High Golden Jubilee celebration. This 50th anniversary event lead to the founding of the York High School Alumni Assoc., Inc. and Sunny was part of those early days. Her event planning expertise and artistry helped initiate the semi-annual Alumni Mixers we began holding in 2005, and continue today as our primary scholarship fundraiser events. Fly high Sunny. Your bright fun loving personality will be missed but we'll see you again.

Get out you calendars! We have dates for the 2026 Alumni Mixers at the Yorktown Freight Shed. The Spring Mixer is scheduled for Saturday, May 30th & the Fall Mixer will be on Friday, October 9th. We are looking for sponsors to help cover operating costs so that more proceeds may go towards our Annual Scholarship. Speaking of scholarships, we are pleased to announce that through a generous, anonymous donation from a member of the Class of 1981 there are two (2) more scholarships available to graduating York seniors beginning this year. Both awards are available to seniors planning studies in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) fields at a Virginia college/university. They are in honor of York High teachers Danny Peters (Class of 67) & Steve Fisher (Class of 81). On Friday, October 10th, a special raffle drawing will take place at the Yorktown Freight Shed during the YHS Alumni Fall Mixer, featuring custom-made York High Falcon Co****le Boards & Bags, generously donated by alumnus Jim Webster.

Raffle tickets are currently on sale for $20 each or 6 for $100. If you would prefer to order boards for yourself, maker Jim Webster has agreed to sell sets for a discounted price of $250 to any York High graduates.
