🎭✨ Bringing Stories to Life Through Drama and Writing! ✨🎭

Students in Mrs. Christesen's class stepped into the spotlight as they explored the elements of drama through both reading and writing! Working collaboratively in groups, students brought plays to life by acting out scenes, practicing expression, and developing their understanding of characters and dialogue.

The creativity continued as students became playwrights themselves, writing their own original scenes and putting their storytelling skills into action. Through performance, collaboration, and writing, students strengthened their communication skills while discovering the power of storytelling from both the reader's and writer's perspective.

Our 5th graders put their skills to the test in an exciting game of Battleship during P.E.! Using teamwork, strategy, and plenty of practice, students worked on their overhand throwing skills as they aimed for targets and tried to sink their opponents' ships.

🍎🌟 A Special Visit from Johnny Appleseed! 🌟🍎
Our first graders had an exciting visit from Johnny Appleseed last week! Students traveled back in time to learn about the life of this famous American folk hero and discovered how he cared for nature and animals while spreading apple seeds across the country.

The learning didn't stop there! Young scientists explored the different parts of an apple to make connections between plants, animals, and the environment. Hands-on memories and experiences that kept our first graders engaged, curious, and eager to learn more! 🍏🐦🌱

Our 4th and 5th grade students recently took a deeper dive into the YCSD Acceptable Use Policy, learning what it means to be responsible digital citizens in today’s connected world.

Through engaging discussions and team collaboration, students explored how to stay safe online, protect their private information, and make kind and responsible choices. Classes worked together to then develop their own AUP in student friendly language. These important lessons help empower students to navigate the digital world with confidence, kindness, and integrity.

🌎💧 Every action makes a ripple! Students recently explored the important role they play in protecting our environment through a lesson about watersheds.

Using the Enviroscope, Mr. Hunter demonstrated how choices made in one location can have a far-reaching impact on communities, animals, and natural resources throughout an entire watershed. As students watched the effects unfold, they discovered that even small actions can make a big difference in keeping our water clean and healthy.
