Stopped by the “old academy” that I went to at 235 E.20st. Definitely brought back some memories- like getting athletes foot from the showers - the “showers” were like 8 or 9 shower heads for like 5 companies (about 250 people) and you only had 1/2 hour for everyone to get through and get to the next class or meal. The lockers were small and tight. You would eventually dry off and start getting dressed and a soaking wet naked dude (or 2) would brush past you and soak you again. Let us not forget doing PT & DT and having to sit, lay and PT in puddles of blood, sweat and p***c hair from the last classes boxing and PT sessions. Also, who could forget that 52 laps around the gym was a mile and a half and you had to run several miles a day. If we were lucky they would switch directions mid run, or let us run the stairs, across a hall, down to the basement, along a hall and back to the gym. We only did 1 or 2 outside runs. I am sure everyone also remembers the naked woman who would appear in her apartment window whenever there was a muster on the 3rd floor muster deck! Ahh the memories. I remember in the locker room of the 47, someone hung a light blue shirt once, with a note on it that said “if you didn’t wear this color, shut your mouth- you have no reason to complain.” I would say that about today’s NYPD recruits and academy, but the NYPD is dead. Deblasio started it. Adams finished it and the communist mamdami will bury any and all hope for the NYPD! RIP NYPD
