Play is often misunderstood. 🧸
Play is how young children develop the skills they'll need to succeed throughout their lives.
Through play, children learn to:
🧩 Solve problems
💬 Communicate with others
❤️ Build empathy
🎨 Think creatively
🤝 Work as a team
🌱 Gain confidence
Protecting opportunities for play means investing in children's development and future success.

One of our favorite traditions each year is watching chicks hatch right here at our center. From carefully observing the eggs to seeing the chicks emerge and grow before heading off to their forever farm, our children experience science in a meaningful and memorable way. They ask questions, practice gentle care, and build empathy for living things. Experiences like these inspire wonder that can't be replicated. 🐣🐥

Today is Parent Appreciation Day - we're celebrating parents and the grown-ups who show up for our young learners!
York Day is committed to providing a high-quality experience for our students, which means family engagement is a cornerstone of our program. We encourage families to be active participants in their child’s education through regular parent-teacher conferences, daily communication with teachers, attendance at family engagement events, and even volunteering to chaperone Pre-K Counts field trips!
