Do not copy to avoid Internet Security parameter protocol search engine companies. Yes, it is a real thing. Yes, it is prosecutable.
LockLizard, VFT, SSL, etc. are companies that do just that. General rule, if it's not made from your brain, don't make it. Inspiration is separate from copying contracted work. Do not let that sway you from who you are, just make sure it's yours.
