2 with 9 members. By 1864 the membership grew to 151 members. On Sept 29, 1864 the Lodge moved to 17 North Beaver St where they rented the second and third floors. While continuing to grow 1 year later On Sept 5, 1865 the Lodge Purchased the entire building. York Lodge No. 266 F&AM Celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in 1902 and it’s 75th in 1927. On Dec 20, 1946 the Lodge took action on the resolution dated Dec 3, 1946 to move the Lodge to the Northeast corner of Beaver and Philadelphia Streets. The resolution was passed and the first meeting was held on April 8, 1947 at their new location. York Lodge No. 266 F&AM celebrated its 100th year anniversary on Nov 4, 1952. The program was presented by the Right Worshipful Past Grand Master Richard A Kern. On Oct 2, 1971 the present Masonic Temple at 400 Masonic Drive, York, PA was dedicated. The Right Worshipful Grand Master Hiram P. Ball laid the corner stone and dedicated the Lodge Room. With a growing membership of 598 members, York Lodge No. 266 F&AM celebrated it’s 125th anniversary on Nov 8, 1977. The 150th anniversary celebration was held on Sept 28, 2002, with a special meeting being held at the Masonic Temple and followed by a formal dinner held for this occasion at the Hanover Country Club. The Right Worshipful Grand Master, Marvin A Cunningham Sr., Grand Lodge Officers, Steve R. Ealy Sr PM., York Lodge No. 266 Officers, members, ladies, and guests were present. As a special point of interest, the Tyler of the Lodge up to the year 1900 hand delivered all notices to the members. Today, York Lodge No. 266 being the mother Lodge of York, PA stands united, strong, and a leader of brotherhood. Showing the best of what Freemasonry has to offer and practicing what we preach in taking good men and making them better.
