Summer is quickly coming to an end, but the 2026-2027 York FFA Officer Team has already been back at school getting crafty and preparing for the upcoming year!

Last Wednesday, our officers and a few younger FFA members participated in a Leather and Leadership workshop, where they made their own leather belts and learned how to better work together as a team. They each left with a personalized, hand-crafted belt and excitement for the great year ahead of York FFA!

We cannot thank Mr. Chuck Gatton (Gatton Saddle Shop) enough for all of his expertise and for providing us with such a fantastic, hands-on workshop.

We would also like to thank Tandy Leather in Charlotte for all of the materials and supplies, Southern Touch Bakery for their delicious coffee to get our morning started, as well as Mrs. Tonya Freeman for our incredible lunch and desserts! We also appreciate our YSD1 staff, Mrs. Hagner and Mrs. Parker, for stopping by, and Mrs. Wallace for staying to craft her very own belt!

None of this would have been possible without all of these generous supporters and our York FFA President, Dacy Freeman, for organizing and conducting this event. Great things are on the horizon for York FFA, and we can’t wait to get started! 🌟

That’s a wrap for our time at the 99th South Carolina FFA State Convention! We had a memorable time competing, recognizing the accomplishments of our FFA members, and enjoying quality time with each other.

Yesterday, Myles Jaremko competed in the inaugural SC FFA Auctioneering CDE and placed third in the competition, earning him a customized belt buckle! Myles had to auction off two items to live bidders, and he did a fantastic job. He has only been auctioneering since January, so we are very proud of how much he’s accomplished in such a short time!

Myles also competed in the State Extemporaneous Public Speaking LDE, and we are awaiting the results. Although he didn’t make top three in the highly competitive contest, we know he did an outstanding job speaking and answering questions about his random topic, GMOs. We are so proud of his growth from a sophomore Creed Speaker to now!

Yesterday, six of our York FFA members, Brayden Anderson, Dacy Freeman, Rylie Green, Evans Hall, Myles Jaremko, and Karsen Turner, were recognized for earning their State FFA Degrees. These are awarded to students who are leaders in their respective chapters and have made numerous contributions to their FFA programs, schools, and communities. We are so proud of them!

Three of our former York FFA members, Samantha Turner, Kayci Wilkerson, and Cameron Williams, were recognized for earning their American FFA Degree which will be given to them at the National FFA Convention in October. This is the highest honor one can earn in the FFA, so we are extremely proud of them all!

All in all, it has been a great week at the SC FFA Convention and we are thankful for the time spent together. Some of those in attendance will soon be moving on to new chapters of their lives, and others are stepping into new leadership roles for York FFA. We have so much to look forward to as this year officially closes and a new one is on the horizon, and we can’t wait! 💙💛

We are excited to be attending the 99th South Carolina FFA Convention this week, and we’ve had a great time so far!

Our Farm Business Management team, Brayden Anderson, Dacy Freeman, Emily Falls and Maddie Ramsey, and Agricultural Education CDE contestant, Rylie Green, competed this afternoon, our members enjoyed talking to the vendors at the Expo, and now the first session is about to begin.

Kayci Wilkerson, our 2024-2025 York FFA President and current State FFA Officer, will be giving her retiring address tonight, and we are so excited to hear from her!

Tomorrow, Myles Jaremko, 2025-2026 York FFA President, will be competing in the final round of the first ever SC FFA Auctioneering CDE and in the State Extemporaneous Public Speaking LDE. We wish him the best of luck and can’t wait to see how all of our teams and contestants do later in the week!

Let’s go Myles!

We wrapped up the year with our annual York FFA Awards Banquet last Thursday. 150 members and guests, enjoyed an evening full of fellowship, celebration, and even a few tear-jerking moments as we recognized all of the accomplishments and hard work put forth by our members this year.

We had the absolute privilege of recognizing 19 former South Carolina State FFA Officers from York who served from the late 1960’s to present day, as well as two former York Agriculture teachers who positively impacted hundreds of students in our community, including Mr. Williams and Mrs. Greenway. As one of the former officers said, the blue jackets may not zip anymore but the impacts of the FFA can be felt for a lifetime!

Kayci Wilkerson, our former York FFA President and a current SC State FFA Vice President, coordinated this gathering of former officers, and she provided us with an inspiring speech about FFA being a family that supports you during your foundational years.

We also gave out over 200 awards to members for their livestock projects, industry certifications, success in Career Development Events (CDEs,) completion of our curriculum pathways, and for volunteering in community service throughout the year.

To finish up the evening, our eight senior officers provided meaningful closing remarks about their time in the FFA and what it meant to them. A few tears were definitely shed! We are going to miss them greatly, but we know the best is yet to come for each of them. We then announced our 2026-2027 York FFA Officer Team who we already know will make a huge impact on our program and community this year. Congratulations to each and every one of you!

Thank you to everyone who made this evening so special for our students. None of it would be possible without your support!

We would say “until next year,” but there’s no breaks for the FFA… So we’re staying busy and getting ready for competitions at our SC State FFA Convention in June.🌟💙

And that’s a wrap for our York FFA Meetings this year! We had a blast celebrating the end of the school year with good food, good times, and our annual “redneck slip n’ slide.”

There were too many water balloons (330, to be exact) being thrown around to take pictures, but we are so proud of this group of graduating seniors! We are going to miss you, but we know you all have bright futures ahead.

Congratulations class of 2026, you just have one more event left before graduation… Our York FFA Banquet! 🎓💙💛
