Responsibility for the operation of the Clubhouse lies with the members and staff and ultimately with the Clubhouse director. Central to this responsibility is the engagement of members and staff in all aspects of the Clubhouse operation.

Members are active partners in making decisions for Clubhouse, not just recipients of service. Members and staff work side by side and both participate in all areas of the Clubhouse. The Director provides leadership and accountability and makes sure that members and staff are engaged.

Clubhouse staff have generalist roles. All staff share employment, housing, evening and weekend, holiday and unit responsibilities. Clubhouse staff do not divide their time between Clubhouse and other major work responsibilities that conflict with the unique nature of member/staff relationships.

Clubhouse has a strong effective leadership of members and staff that support the Clubhouse mission and helps to ensure the Clubhouse remains member centered.

Clubhouse staff are sufficient enough to engage the membership, yet few enough to make carrying out their responsibilities impossible without member involvement.

Members and staff work side by side to complete the work of the Clubhouse. Members have the opportunity to contribute to the operations and success of the Clubhouse. Staff should never do all the work and members should never only receive services.

All Clubhouse meetings are open to both members and staff. There are no formal member only meetings or formal staff only meetings where program decisions and member issues are discussed.

This standard promotes open communication and shared decision-making between members and staff. It also promotes trust, respect, transparency, and member involvement.

The Clubhouse provides an effective
reach out system to members who are not attending, becoming isolated in the community or hospitalized.

This standard allows clubhouse to maintain connection with members who have not been attending, isolating or are hospitalized. Members can be reached out to through a phone call, a card, and when available mobile outreach.

Standard #5

Members at their choice are involved in the writing of all records reflecting their participation in the clubhouse. All such records are signed by both member and staff.

At the clubhouse, we all work on goals in different areas, whether that be in education, employment, our physical and mental health, socialization, our living environment, etc. When we come up with our goals, we work alongside staff to choose a goal that we want to work on at the clubhouse and is recorded. After the goal is set, both the member and the staff sign the record.

The Clubhouse community promotes acceptance and inclusion. All members have access to every Clubhouse opportunity.

This standard means that no one is excluded from participating in the work ordered day, activies, committees, education, employment, social events, or decision making because of their mental health or disability. Members also chose the way they want to be involved and participation is always voluntary.

Standard #3....

Members use the way they utilize the Clubhouse, and the staff with whom they work. There are no agreements, contracts, schedules, or rules intended to enforce participation of members.

Every Clubhouse has a responsibility to protect and promote rights dignity, and well-being of its members. This ensures that members are treated with respect, have equal opportunities to participate, and are free from discrimination, coercion, or exploitation. Everyone is also treated with respect related to their privacy and confidentiality.
