The Clubhouse community promotes acceptance and inclusion. All members have access to every Clubhouse opportunity.
This standard means that no one is excluded from participating in the work ordered day, activies, committees, education, employment, social events, or decision making because of their mental health or disability. Members also chose the way they want to be involved and participation is always voluntary.

Standard #3....
Members use the way they utilize the Clubhouse, and the staff with whom they work. There are no agreements, contracts, schedules, or rules intended to enforce participation of members.
Every Clubhouse has a responsibility to protect and promote rights dignity, and well-being of its members. This ensures that members are treated with respect, have equal opportunities to participate, and are free from discrimination, coercion, or exploitation. Everyone is also treated with respect related to their privacy and confidentiality.
Standard #2...
The Clubhouse has control over its acceptance of new members. Membership is open to anyone with a history of mental illness, unless that person poses a significant and current threat to the general safety of the Clubhouse community.
This means that clubhouse decides who becomes a member. It is open to anyone who has experienced a mental illness. A person can only be denied if the present a serious safety risk to others in the Clubhouse.
This standard promotes inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity for those living with mental illness.

Membership is voluntary and without time limits.
Members have the right to join Clubhouse completely on their own.
Clubhouse is a community where people with mental health challenges can come together, build relationships, work side-by-side with staff and find support for employment, education, and/or wellness. There are over 370 clubhouses internationally who model the work-ordered day. According to the Clubhouse International Standards, the work is voluntary, strengths-based and focused on building confidence, relationships, purpose, and community.
