Camel pose requires both flexibility in the front of the legs as well as openness in the spine.
But do you know which body part is easier for most people to stretch when expressing ustrasana? Can you see the difference in the human body between someone accessing ustrasana via front thigh stretching vs. lower/upper back openness?

Gate pose is an underutilized posture in many asana classes, and there's so many ways to approach this pose. This means we have to be ultra aware of the distinct set of effects that each variation has on the human body.

In just a month, we begin the Yoga Masterminds 200 hour online teacher training program!
The number one skill you need to become an effective teacher is a deep knowledge of how the human body moves - after all, the baseline of what you'll be doing as an asana teacher is, of course, to call out different poses.
If you don't have a clear understanding of the objective, scientific realities as to the effects that each pose has on the body, you're simply playing a game of simon says - calling out different postures, and waiting for students to perform them.
If you're interested in developing this much needed competency to uplevel your teaching skills, this online 200 hour training is for you! Check out www.yogamasterminds.com to learn more - first day orientation is on May 6!
