Core summer memories … loading! 🔋

Earlier this month, our children and young adults at in Yonkers enjoyed a good, old-fashioned block party! When the summer heat kept us from taking the festivities outside, we brought all the fun indoors instead.

With a DJ spinning the soundtrack, seasonal games that engaged the senses and an ice cream and lemonade stand serving up sweet treats, our children and young adults had plenty of ways to join in on the excitement and enjoy a memorable afternoon together!

Who says learning has to stay in school?! 🐓🐇🦉

Students from our in Yonkers recently visited the Greenburgh Nature Center for a fun and educational field trip. They met several animal friends up close, learned about their habitats and explored the natural world beyond the classroom.

We love giving our students the opportunity to learn through real-world experiences!

Here’s to the next chapter! 🎓

Last week, we celebrated our preschool graduation at in Yonkers! Seven incredible students received their diplomas surrounded by the families, educators and caregivers who have cheered them on every step of the way.

Preschool is a formative time for young learners and we’re so proud of all our graduates have accomplished so far with us.

There’s always something new to discover at ! 🔬🧪

We recently launched “Full STEAM Ahead: Exploring Science Through Play” - a new and hands-on (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) enrichment series made possible through funding from The Toy Foundation!

Our first program invited residents to explore scientific concepts through interactive play, from examining specimens under microscopes to observing chemical “volcano” reactions and experimenting with electrical conductivity using potatoes.

And the adventure is just beginning! We can’t wait to continue exploring the world of STEAM, culminating in a community-wide science fair by year’s end to celebrate our children and young adults and the joy of learning!

Who says therapy can’t feel like summer?! 🌊😎

Our indoor, heated, aquatic therapy pool at is the largest in . Aquatic therapy is provided to children as young as 3 months to school-age when included by our physicians as part of their comprehensive and personalized plan of care. When our expert doctors believe that it will be beneficial to a child, trained physical, occupational and speech therapists conduct treatment sessions in the pool to strengthen their body, build endurance, improve mobility and even support breathing and speech.

Our therapists incorporate activities and plenty of smiles to make every session as fun as it is therapeutic!

In honor of , we’re looking back on a favorite past adventure! 🛹 🛼

A couple of years ago, accompanied by members of our Therapeutic Recreation and nursing teams, two of our residents enjoyed a day of adaptive skating and rollerblading in Manhattan’s Hudson River Park as a part of Wheeling Forward's “Play It Forward” initiative.

In addition to getting to ride the slopes of the skate park, our kids got to meet Aaron Fotheringham, a wheelchair motocross ( ) pro athlete! Watching our residents’ confidence grow with every ride was just as inspiring as the smiles on their faces!
