Today, we celebrate Juneteenth and reflect on the work needed to ensure equity for all families.

Black women in the United States continue to experience disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and pregnancy-related complications. By raising awareness, advocating for equitable healthcare, and supporting families, we can help create healthier futures for mothers and children.

At Andrus, our commitment to whole-person wellness includes supporting the health, dignity, and well-being of every family.

Powerful conversations lead to powerful change. We're grateful to Mitch for exploring with Dr. Corine E. Lurry-Mabin how trauma-responsive practices, self-regulation, and curiosity help create stronger outcomes for children, families, and communities.

What a remarkable evening celebrating our CEO, Dr. Corine E. Lurry-Mabin, as a 2026 C-Suite Award Honoree!
Corine took the stage with the same authenticity, passion, and vision that inspire all of us at Andrus every day. Her words were powerful, heartfelt, and a reminder of what purposeful leadership looks like in action.
This recognition is a testament not only to Corine's extraordinary accomplishments, but also to the lives she has touched, the communities she has strengthened, and the possibilities she continues to create for children and families throughout our region.
Those of us who have the privilege of working alongside Corine know that her leadership is matched only by her generosity, compassion, and unwavering belief in people. She challenges us to think bigger, dream bolder, and never lose sight of our mission.
Congratulations, Corine, on this well-deserved honor. Your Andrus family was proud to cheer you on, celebrate your achievements, and witness yet another moment that reflects the incredible leader you are.

πŸ§ͺπŸ”¬ Science was on full display this week at Orchard School's Science Fair, and our students absolutely amazed us!
From testing what happens to eggs in vinegar, salt water, and sugar water (the rubbery vinegar egg was a crowd favorite!) to exploring fossil formation, archaeology, bird nest engineering, heat transfer, physical versus chemical changes, renewable and nonrenewable resources, flower dye absorption, fruit preservation, and even which diaper offers the best value (Pampers took the crown πŸ’°), our young scientists tackled real-world questions with curiosity, creativity, and confidence.
The event was standing room only as students proudly presented their findings, shared their research, and answered questions with poise and enthusiasm. Their presentation skills were every bit as impressive as their experiments. Watching them explain complex concepts, engage with visitors, and take pride in their work was truly inspiring.
A special congratulations to our students and our dedicated teachers for helping foster a culture of inquiry, creativity, and discovery. The hard work and excitement on display throughout the event reflected the incredible learning happening every day at Orchard School.
The future is bright, and it's filled with curious minds ready to discover what's possible.
Well done, Orchard School! 🌟

What an extraordinary morning we shared at Andrus' Insight Breakfast Series: One Health, One Community in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Together, we explored a simple but powerful truth: healing does not happen in isolation. It happens through connection, movement, nourishment, nature, empathy, and community.

The morning began with a thoughtful reflection from Mary Grace Pagaduan, Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement, who introduced the One Health lens and guided our conversation throughout the event. Guests enjoyed delicious farm-fresh egg bites made with ingredients from the Andrus Hope Space Farm, prepared by Chef Ariela St. Vill, who reminded us that food is more than nourishment; it is medicine, care, and connection.

DaveEarly, Andrus Board Member and Licensed Mental Health Provider, explored how mental health is truly whole-body health, while Stacey Roberts, LCSW, CEO of Greater Mental Health of New York, offered powerful insights into how the body carries and remembers our experiences. Our Recreation Therapist, Jessica Amato, got everyone moving with outdoor icebreakers and shared how movement can be a powerful tool for regulation, confidence, and joy.

We were inspired by Dr. Debra Argentina, Ecology Teacher at Andrus, who highlighted the importance of outdoor learning and growing well-being through connection with nature. Meg Cardi, LMSW, and Natalia Valdes, MA Valdes, Animal Caretaker at Andrus, shared how animals help foster empathy, trust, and healing relationships. Nate Hill, Executive Director of the Metropolitan New York Library Council, reminded us of the importance of the places that hold us and the role community spaces play in our wellbeing.

The conversation was beautifully framed by Dr. Corine E. Lurry-Mabin, PhD , President and CEO of Andrus, who reminded us that healing is not a single service or intervention. It is an ecosystem shaped by relationships, movement, nourishment, nature, animals, community, and belonging.

At Andrus, One Health represents a new way of thinking about wellbeing, one that recognizes that healthier people create healthier communities, and healthier communities create a healthier world.

Thank you to our speakers, elected officials, guests, partners, board members, staff, and supporters for helping us imagine what is possible when we grow wellbeing together.
