TBT: Impressionist photographer Axel Bahnsen captured this atmospheric image of a bridge across the Yellow Springs Creek, circa 1940. We are getting ready to replace the current bridge in that location, which will be a project for 2027.

Despite their tendency to be hit by cars, we don't get many vultures admitted into our rehab clinic so when we have FOUR at one time, it is pretty big news for these beautiful birds! Even better, three of them are now flying well enough that we opened the connecting doors between two enclosures to give them more space!

Here at Glen Helen we challenge you to love ALL the birds, even the scavengers!

TBT: Thanks to Ken Hunt -- who's on the right in this photo, Glen Helen has been recognized as a National Natural Landmark since 1965. The National Natural Landmark program, run by the U.S. National Park Service, identifies and recognizes the best examples of biological and geological features in both public and private ownership.

The first fall Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist training is underway at Glen Helen! So far, participants have learned about Ohio birds, mammals, insects and reptiles in the classroom and on the trails. Our spring OCVN trainings was so successful, we added this fall training. Applications for the spring training are open Dec 15- Jan 15.
