River School offers a warm, nurturing, inclusive environment that inspires curiosity, confidence and a sense of community. Even from my earliest memories of my education, I remember feeling like school was designed to teach one specific type of student. The curriculum and rules were set into place to meet the needs of this model student, and it didn’t speak to me. From that point on, I knew I wanted to bring about a different kind of education to our youngest “scholars,” even before they ever set foot into a kindergarten classroom. I deeply believe that every child, from the moment of birth, is a uniquely beautiful individual that is not defined by one set of rules. Just like us, I believe that all children thrive in environments that let them be true to their spirit. As adults, I believe that we are privileged enough to help nurture their souls and minds as they start the educational journey. Here at River School, we don’t have one “set” approach or one clearly defined program. We incorporate traditional education lessons (a gentle introduction into the world of reading, math, science, and geography), some Montessori-inspired works, baking, art, yoga, free play, and an appreciation into the energetic world that deeply roots our souls into a place of peace. Beyond numbers and letters, what truly inspires River School to work with children? We have the power to teach our students the lessons that will carry them through their life.
