We finished up Piano Bowl this week and the Eagles are our champions!!! 🎉(Hopefully a good sign for things to come tomorrow! 💚🦅💚) it was such a fun month of learning about chords and then testing our knowledge each week with a game that could earn us a touchdown for our team! 🏈🎹

I can’t believe it’s August already!!! 😱 We have been having a blast this summer with our piano summer games! 🎹🏆 We are working on our rhythm skills and reviewing our music theory concepts while scoring points for our team! Which team will win?! 🥇 Only 3 weeks to go!!

What a fantastic recital!!! 🎹🎶⭐️ I’m so proud of all of my students who worked so hard these past months to perform on Friday. The hard work paid off because it was a wonderful evening of beautiful music!! 🥰💖

What a fun week of group lessons!! 🥰💖 We worked through an escape room to try to figure out who Beethoven’s Immortal Beloved was (no one knows for sure!). We used all our knowledge of music theory concepts to work through the clues to make a final choice among the 12 suspected ladies. The kids did a great job!! 🤩👏🏻👏🏻

Why do people pay for piano lessons?

The answer is….they don’t pay for piano lessons. They pay for so much more.

- They pay for their child to learn what it takes to commit to something meaningful;

- They pay so that their child can learn the magic of creation, of forming something beautiful using their hands;

- They pay so that their child recognises the power of discipline, of working at something consistently, at least five days per week, honing their skills and building their fluency;

- They pay so that their child understands not to quit when the novelty has worn off and the work must set in;

- They pay so their child learns that they must still put in the work, even when tired and grumpy, not just giving up and spending hours on TikTok;

- They pay so that they can learn the joy of creating music with others: listening intently, and learning to chop, change and compromise;

- They pay so that they realise that it’s not just “enjoying themselves” but working meticulously on small details;

- They pay so that they DO enjoy themselves;

- They pay so that their child creates neural pathways that impact every single area of the curriculum;

- They pay so that their child develops the most incredible fine motor skills;

- They pay so that their child sees that art can be transcendent, and can accompany us through our darkest times;

- They pay because music puts us in touch with something that can’t be otherwise expressed.

There are so many ways that parents (both musical or non-musical) can nurture their child’s love of music. Both my parents invested their time and interest in my piano lessons despite neither of them playing the piano and it had a lasting impact on me. 💖🎹
