Training for search and rescue K9s and their handlers never ends, yet another weekend of training for one of our teams!

Area K9 Ahuka, and trailing K9s Flare and Larry were hard at work this weekend training with K9 Track NW!

Another training day for our K9 teams!

As the days grow shorter and the sun sets earlier, outdoor adventures require a little extra planning and a lot more awareness. Whether you're hiking, biking, camping, or just enjoying nature, a few steps can help you to stay safe and make the most of your time outside:

🧭 Plan Ahead Know your route, check the weather, and estimate how much daylight you’ll have. Sunset sneaks up faster than you think!

🔦 Pack Smart Bring a headlamp or flashlight (with extra batteries), warm layers, and a fully charged phone or GPS device. Visibility and warmth are key.

🕒 Start Early Begin your adventure earlier in the day to maximize daylight and avoid navigating in the dark.

📍 Tell Someone Always let someone know where you’re going and when you expect to return. It’s a simple step that can make a huge difference.

🚨 Know Your Limits Shorter days mean less time to recover from unexpected delays. Don’t push past your comfort zone—turn back before it’s too late.

Nature doesn’t wait, and neither should you. Stay safe, stay smart, and keep exploring!

Beat the heat with an early training!
Teams Flare, Larry and Ahuka worked hard and brought subjects Gavin & Jen home even tho they kept getting lost in the woods!

🐶Paws in the Pool is Aug. 24th at Franklin Pool! Dogs swim free, owners pay general admission.
🐾No vicious/aggressive dogs permitted
🐾Dogs must be current on shots & vaccinations. Owners responsible for cleaning up messes dogs make.
🐾Dogs must be leashed until inside the pool area.
Donations will be accepted for the Yakima Humane Society.
