π² Whitney Elementary is excited to share a recent partnership with Hyundai of Yakima to celebrate and encourage strong student attendance! π Starting in January and continuing through the remainder of the school year, Hyundai of Yakima is generously donating one bicycle each month to support our students.
Every student who earns perfect attendance during a given month will be entered into that month's raffle for a chance to win the bike. π Perfect attendance means coming to school every day, on time, and without checking out early; simple habits that make a big difference. β
π We would like to congratulate our most recent winners: Ellie S. for perfect March attendance, and Kamila S. for perfect April attendance! Well done, Whitney Wildcats! πΎ

Mondays have become a highlight of the week for students at Whitney, thanks to an ongoing enrichment program that brings learning beyond the classroom. Throughout the school year, all Kβ5 students have participated in engaging activities during specialist time, creating opportunities to explore new interests, stay active, and build important life skills. πͺ
From participating in Mileage Club to taking part in Winter Olympics-themed events, students have embraced activities that promote movement and teamwork. These experiences both encourage physical wellness and help students develop resilience and a sense of accomplishment. πββοΈβοΈ
Whitneyβs specialist team has also partnered with community members to bring meaningful learning into the school. Students benefited from health-focused presentations by Apple Valley Dental and learned about heart health from student doctor Jan Jimenez of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU). These connections help students see the relevance of healthy habits and inspire them to take ownership of their well-being. β€οΈ
This work directly supports Yakima School Districtβs Strategic Goal #2 by fostering an environment where students feel safe, supported, and empowered to grow. Whitney Elementary is helping students build the habits and behaviors they need to succeed, in school and beyond. π±
