🎉 WILD CARD FRIDAY WAS A HIT! 🎉

Our Bobcats came to school this morning knowing something was going to happen… they just didn’t know WHAT! 👀❓

For our very first Wild Card Friday, we ran the attendance reports and planned to celebrate one K–2 classroom and one 3–5 classroom with the highest percentage of students at school.

Well… our Bobcats had other plans. 😂

🌟 EIGHT classrooms had 100% attendance today! 🌟

That meant Ms. Lundeen had to make an unexpected run to the store for MORE treats! 😆🎉 We couldn’t have been happier to do it!

The students absolutely loved the surprise, and we loved seeing their excitement — especially after they spent the morning trying their hardest to convince the adults to give away the secret. 🤐😂

And this is only the beginning!
Every Wild Card Friday will be different. It might be a grade-level competition, classroom challenge, drawing, special surprise… or something completely unexpected. 🎟️🎁🏆

The only catch?

💚 You have to BE HERE on Friday to find out! 💚

We can’t wait to see what happens next Friday. 👀❓

¡Eso significó que la Sra. Lundeen tuvo que correr a la tienda por MÁS premios! 😆🎉 ¡Y no podríamos haber estado más felices de hacerlo!

A los estudiantes les encantó la sorpresa, y a nosotros nos encantó ver su emoción, especialmente después de que pasaron la mañana tratando de convencer a los adultos de que les dijeran el secreto. 🤐😂

¡Y esto apenas comienza!

Cada Wild Card Friday será diferente. Puede ser una competencia por grado, un reto entre salones, un sorteo, una sorpresa especial… o algo completamente inesperado. 🎟️🎁🏆

¿La única condición?

💚 ¡Tienen que ESTAR AQUÍ los viernes para descubrirlo! 💚

Students in grades K–8 can earn a special $3 admission ticket just by reading 3 books for fun! Choose books at your reading level, keep track of your reading with your teacher, and complete your reading goal by October 4th.

☀️ Summer may be in full swing, but the learning never stops in Yakima School District! 📚✨
Our YSD students continue to thrive in summer school building new skills, growing their confidence, making new friends, and having a whole lot of fun along the way! From hands-on learning to engaging activities, our classrooms are filled with curiosity, smiles, and opportunities.

When the Culture Committee at MultiCare set out to make a difference last month, they delivered. The team arrived at Barge-Lincoln Elementary with four carloads packed full of food and hygiene products that supported students and families throughout our school community. 📦🍎🧴🚗

The timing of this donation was especially meaningful. Many families in our community are navigating financial stress, food insecurity, and other ongoing challenges that can make day-to-day life difficult. Having access to essential items like nutritious food and hygiene products removes barriers and allows families to focus on what matters most: their children's wellbeing and education. 💛

The donation was a powerful reminder of what's possible when local organizations step up to support their neighbors. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and for showing our Barge-Lincoln families that their community cares. 🤝

We are grateful to Yakima Schools Foundation for their grant supporting the annual Salmon Release program at Barge Lincoln Elementary School!

This hands-on field trip allows students to release young salmon while learning about local ecosystems, the salmon life cycle, and environmental conservation.

Barge-Lincoln Staff Get Creative to Boost Half-Day Attendance! ✨

Barge-Lincoln Elementary is finding new ways to get students excited about coming to school, especially on half-days. Our PTO and Attendance Monitoring Team have teamed up to create fun surprises that keep kids motivated. 🎉

To help increase attendance on professional development half-day Wednesdays, the school started a special lunch surprise. They place bobcat pawprint stickers 🐾 on 100 random lunch trays. When students pick up their trays and see a pawprint, they get a special Bobcat Cookie treat! 🍪 The surprise element makes lunchtime exciting. Students never know if they'll be one of the lucky 100 to get a cookie with their meal.

Barge-Lincoln has also created "Undercover Spirit Days" 🎭 to add even more excitement. These are theme days that students are not aware of ahead of time. For example, teachers and staff have participated in "Anything But a Cup Day," where they drink from unusual containers instead of regular cups. 😄 This activity sparked a lot of laughter and fun conversations.

Staff and students alike are having a great time with these creative attendance boosters. Barge-Lincoln is working hard to beat the attendance trends and make it fun along the way! 🎊👏
