This weekend our cadets walked a total of 14 miles to remember the Bataan Death March during WW2.

For those who do not know what the Bataan Death March was, in April 1942, the Japanese army forced about 75,000 American and Filipino POWs to march 65 miles in the Philippines after the Battle of Bataan. Facing extreme heat, starvation, dehydration, and brutal treatment by their captors, thousands died on the march, which is remembered as a horrific war crime.

Also special thanks to Mr. Bartley and XPD for showing us some support!

Xenia High JROTC cadets donated over 600 pounds of canned goods during their fourth annual food drive. Xenia‘s local food pantry will benefit from these donations as they plan to feed Thanksgiving dinner to over 900 families. Bobbi Jo Stewart, Corps Commander of the cadets, “looks forward to starting off the holiday season by helping others. We are extremely proud this year’s seniors started this community service project as freshmen.”

On Saturday, November 9th, the Dayton VA Medical Center hosted its third annual Veterans Day parade to honor our veterans in the local community. This is the second year Xenia High School’s Air Force JROTC cadets joined other organizations from the Miami Valley area to show their support for our military veterans.

Our cadets met another community service goal by donating over 2000 pounds of clothes to the local Salvation Army to help those in need.

On February 27, Air Force Junior ROTC cadets and juniors and seniors at Xenia High School participated in a panel on career opportunities at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, hosted by Congressman Mike Turner and Xenia Mayor Sarah Mays. During his visit, Congressman Turner, the House Intelligence Committee Chairman, was presented with a Xenia JROTC t-shirt by the Corps Commander, Cadet Lt Col Bobbi Jo Stewart. Kudos to our cadets and instructors for representing the program so well!
