Dr. Dean Sprinkle (President), Tracy McAfee (Associate Professor of Communications Studies and Theatre) and Josh Floyd (Coordinator of Dual Enrollment) represented Wytheville Community College at this year’s Virginia Community Colleges Association (VCCA) Conference. The theme of the 41st annual VCCA Conference, held in Bristol, was titled “Creating Harmony – Educating and Supporting Today’s Learners”.
Josh’s presentation (“The CCRV – Not Just Another Acronym”) on Wednesday focused on new dual enrollment legislation featuring the no cost College and Career Ready Virginia Program. The presentation centered around Passport and UCGS attainment for eligible dual enrollment students, along with other programmatic parameters and implementation factors.
Dr. Sprinkle was one of seven Virginia Community College System presidents who addressed the VCCA contingent as part of Thursday morning’s Presidential Perspectives: Insights from our College Leaders Panel.
At Thursday evening’s awards banquet, Josh was also chosen to receive one of the VCCA’s Showcase Awards. Each award recognizes significant contributions to the community college and to education in general, along with professional/personal development involvement and length of time at the college/campus.
