The Littles have been busy in the garden, and it’s been such meaningful work to watch unfold.

They’ve been prepping garden beds, moving dirt, and fertilizing the soil as they learn what plants need to grow. Along the way, we’ve been exploring how nature recycles itself, watching leaves and sticks break down and turn into rich compost that feeds new life.

While gardening often gets the spotlight for its beautiful blooms and abundant harvests, the behind-the-scenes work is just as important. For the children, this process has been an opportunity to learn patience, responsibility, and how everything in nature is connected.

It’s not just about what grows above the soil, it’s also about understanding what happens beneath it.

Yesterday was incredible! I had the honor of teaching the “Fathers in the Wild Seven-Day Nature Challenge” as a way to connect with nature and grow throughout the day was truly inspiring. There’s something powerful about stepping outside, embracing the wild, and discovering strength in both nature and yourself.

I’m so grateful to be part of experiences like this that remind us of the beauty of growth, adventure, and community.

Earth day is one of our favorite holidays to celebrate. We love making the earth out of our hands and cleaning up at a local park.

We combined learning and fun today by teaching the children about The Beatles during our in-home daycare's holiday celebration. They had blast listening to their music, especially when it came time for them dance along to 'Twist and Shout!'

Loose parts can come in many different forms. I love coming up with different ways to use loose parts. This button container is a great example of that, it’s something that I remember doing as a child. Having small parts in a multi age group can be a challenge. This is a good time to get babies off the floor play and into a high chair table time activity, so the older kids can concentrate on explore these containers.
When children are given the freedom to explore materials in their own way, they are able to use their imagination and creativity to explore and learn new skills. This also promotes problem-solving skills as children learn how to manipulate materials to achieve their desired outcome.
