When do we light Shabbat candles? The answer isn't quite as simple as before or around sunset on Friday as is widely believed. The earliest you can light them is an hour and fifteen minutes before sunset, and the latest is just before the sun goes down. Traditionally, they are lit 18 minutes before sunset, although some communities in Israel 🇮🇱 will do so earlier.
