ND CTE Directors Award of Excellence Winner:

Congratulations to the Southeast Region Career and Technology Center (SRCTC), on being recognized at the North Dakota Career & Technical Education Professional Development Conference!

SRCTC was honored for its exemplary innovation, instructor collaboration, and strong community partnerships that provide students with hands-on learning experiences in precision agriculture, food science, welding, greenhouse production, and other technical skill areas.

Through a collaborative regional model, these programs are expanding access to high-quality agricultural education while preparing students for success through classroom instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs), and FFA leadership opportunities.

Our officer team had our annual retreat today. We started the day taking some official dress photos at the Bagg Farm, then headed to Fargo. We made sure to stop in for at Dairy Queen, and then spent the rest of the day at kingpinzfargo doing an escape room, eating a delicious lunch, doing some goal planning and working on our POA and ended the day with bowling. This crew is ready to take on the new school year.

Woodbury Hatchery has an amazing opportunity for FFA members to raise some meat birds this fall. Chicks are available now and will be provided to our ag students FREE of charge if you are using for a student project. You just need a place to raise them and provide the feed. A solid showing at the North Dakota State Fair with Wyndmere FFA showing over 800 horticulture, ag mechanics, floral and education projects. Thanks to the officers who helped load the trailer and to the Severance family for hauling and picking them in Minot.

We have a long day of travel ahead of us today, but this has been an amazing trip. We have experienced some fantastic tours, seen the most beautiful scenery and expanded our minds and views of the world. Thank you to our family, friends and community for helping our students with this once in a lifetime experience.

Our last full day on our trip was spent in Nice, France. We spent the morning touring the ancient medieval village of St. Paul de Vence. Originally a strategic 12th-century fortress, it was fortified further in the 14th century and later equipped with its iconic ramparts by King Francis I in the 1540s. It later became a haven for artists in the impressionist movement and names such as Picasso, Chagal, and Matisse lived and left their mark on the village. Students also tried their hand at pentanque- a french game simular to bocce ball.
Student got free time in the afternoon to explore the city, try new foods and swim in the Mediterranean Sea.

Day 6 of our trip brought us to 3 different countries in one day! We started the morning off in Italy 🇮🇹 where we got to experience the Autogrill (Italian travel station) and then visit an olive grove for an in-depth look at olive oil production and terrace farming. We then drove over to the Mediterranean area, where we stopped in Monaco 🇲🇨 to stretch our legs and tour the 2nd smallest country in the world. We saw the royal palace and the cathedral where Grace Kelly is buried. We ended our day in France 🇫🇷 where we toured a french perfume factory and had dinner in Nice.

Day 5 abroad brought us up to the beautiful Langhe region. We visited the city of Alba where we saw the Ferrero factory (Nutella!) and explored the local markets. In the afternoon we visited Castello di Grinzane Cavour and took in the spectacular views and learned more about the viticulture a high end wine industry and about the rare white truffles harvested in the region. Supper was made with local beef and then the students finished the night in the pool after another scorcher of a day.

Day 4 of our excursion still has us in the Cuneo region and taking in more ag tours. We learned about traditional flour-making methods at a historic watermill, toured a dairy farm in the Italian/French alps and discovered the centuries-old art of cheese-making and tried some samples, and then visited a local sweet shop and sampled (more) gelato. Our evening ended with a family style meal of pizza!
