Out of nearly 200 applicants, CHS rising juniors Grace Byard and Gale Sanchez were among just 50 students selected to attend the Exelon Foundation STEM Academy at Saint Joseph’s University earlier this month—and both took home top honors!

The free, residential leadership program is tailored specifically for young women who are curious about energy and sustainability and eager to explore how science and technology can help solve real-world challenges.

Sanchez earned the Green Innovator Award (Best Overall Project) for designing a brownfield-turned-community center tailored for a high-crime, low-income area. Meanwhile, Byard secured the Best Site Planning award for her proposal transforming a brownfield site into an affordable healthcare clinic. Congratulations to both on their impressive achievements!

Congratulations to the team of Cheltenham rising sophomores who won the National Association of Black Accountants’ (NABA) Accounting Career Awareness Program (ACAP) Drinks Company case study competition with the presentation of its creation, Leboul Sports Drink.

The team of Phillip Abiola, Levi Burns, Samuel Cox, Arden Macelus and Ziyon Werts was given 16 ingredients with which to devise a drink on which they would present and be judged upon taste, budget, marketing strategy, branding and advertising. Their drink included two types of Gatorade, ginger ale, apple juice and Crystal Light. Each student received a $50 gift card to mark the team’s victory.

In addition, rising senior Noah Ryan was one of two students to receive a $250 prize in recognition of his leadership throughout the week.

The team’s victory was announced at Friday’s graduation ceremony from the weeklong, residential program at Arcadia University that introduces high school students to careers in accounting, finance, business administration, entrepreneurship, emerging technology and corporate leadership through guest speakers, site visits and presentations.
