These bins are located on the outside of the Wyandotte Community Garden for gardeners to share extra produce from their harvests. Neighbors are welcome to add extra homegrown produce too. Anything placed in these bins is free for anyone who can use it.

We also want to follow up on our recent post about produce being taken from individual garden plots. Our Community Garden operates like many others in the region and as it has for years: each plot is cared for by an individual gardener, and what is grown in that plot belongs to them.

At the same time, we know there is a growing need for food support in our community. If you or someone you know needs assistance, here are a few local resources:

Some of these organizations also accept fresh produce donations, so if you have more from your garden than you can use, consider reaching out to see what they can accept and help get that harvest into the hands of neighbors who need it.

Our goal is to respect the work of our individual gardeners while also finding meaningful ways to share what we can and connect our neighbors with support.

We’ve unfortunately seen an increase in produce and flowers being taken from individual plots at the Wyandotte Community Garden.

We want to offer a firm reminder that anything growing within a garden plot belongs to the gardener caring for that space and should not be picked or taken. Our gardeners put a great deal of time, care, and resources into their plots, and for many, this is their only space to grow fresh produce and flowers.

Signs have been placed throughout the garden as an additional reminder. When visiting the garden, please look, admire, take photos, and leave everything growing where it is.

We’ve got a full year of programs planned, and they’re all included with membership.

This year we’ll be exploring topics like overwintering your garden, mushrooms, herbs, fairy gardens, vegetable gardening, cut flowers, flower arranging, and more. Members can attend these programs throughout the year at no additional cost.

The Wyandotte Garden Club is about much more than getting together once a month.

Throughout the year, our members help with community garden and beautification projects, host events, take part in workshops and programs, volunteer around town, and spend time learning from one another.

Have you ever thought about joining a garden club but felt like you didn't know enough? Here's the truth—you don't need to be a Master Gardener. Heck, you don't even have to know what kind of soil you have. 😄 If you're interested in gardening and enjoy learning alongside friendly people, you'll fit right in.

The Wyandotte Garden Club is made up of people of all experience levels. Some have been gardening for decades, while others are planting their very first flower. We learn from one another, volunteer throughout the community, and have a lot of fun along the way.
