📣IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT📣

Wyandotte Public Schools is aware of the disturbing “Cat in the Hat” social-media trend currently circulating in Oklahoma and across the country. These posts may contain frightening images, threatening messages, references to schools or communities and, in some cases, the names of individual students.

Wyandotte Public Schools and local law enforcement are currently working with state and federal authorities to monitor and assess information related to this trend.

Although many of these posts appear to be part of a viral trend or intended as pranks, any message that threatens students, staff members or a school must be taken seriously. Creating, sharing or reposting this material can spread fear, disrupt the school day, complicate an investigation and potentially result in school discipline or legal consequences.

We ask parents and guardians to speak with their children about responsible social-media use and reinforce the following safety practices:

• Do not accept friend or follow requests from people you do not personally know.

• Do not share your live location, home address, school schedule, bus route or regular travel routine online.

• Review location-sharing settings on Snapchat, TikTok, Instagram and other applications. Location services should be disabled unless they are truly needed.

• Never agree to meet an online contact without the knowledge and direct supervision of a parent or guardian.

• Do not respond to, forward, repost or publicly comment on threatening content. Sharing a threat—even to warn friends—can increase fear, expand its audience and interfere with efforts to determine where it originated.

• Preserve the original content by taking screenshots that include the username, profile, message, date and time.

• Immediately report concerning posts or messages to a parent, school administrator, School Resource Officer or local law enforcement.

Students should understand that social-media accounts are not truly anonymous. Posts, messages and account activity may be traced through electronic records. What begins as a joke, prank or attempt to gain attention can create genuine fear and lead to serious consequences.

At this time, this message is intended as a safety reminder and should not be interpreted as notice of a specific credible threat against Wyandotte Public Schools. The district, local law enforcement and our state and federal partners will continue monitoring available information and will address any situation involving our students, staff or facilities.

Please help us protect our students by encouraging them to report concerning content—not spread it.

💼 MidAmerica Comp. Meeting Highlights!

On Thursday, August 27th, we took a group of kids to the MidAmerica Comp. Meeting! 🌟

Working in teams, students were assigned random topics and tasked with developing viable business concepts from the ground up. 🧠⚡ Midway through the exercise, a "Chaos Card" was introduced, requiring every group to adapt and pivot their business strategy under pressure. 🔄

To wrap up the workshop, teams pitched their final business ideas directly to the audience! 🎙️✨ Our students also had the incredible opportunity to connect with college business majors who have launched their own ventures. These mentors provided valuable feedback, helping our students refine and advance their concepts. 📈🎓

After a productive day, the group enjoyed lunch together and concluded the afternoon with ice cream. 🍦 It was an exceptional day of hands-on learning, leadership, and lasting memories. 🎉

🚑 Big News at Wyandotte Public Schools! 🚑

Wyandotte Public Schools is excited to introduce one of our newest programs on campus this year: EMT Certification! 🩺✨

Every day during 1st hour, 15 dedicated students are engaged in hands-on training and education to become certified Emergency Medical Technicians. 📑 Qualified students will complete over 200 hours of rigorous coursework inside and outside of school—including real-world clinic hours doing ride-alongs with local ambulance services! 🚨 At the end of the year, they’ll tackle national certification and skills exams, graduating immediately ready to step into a career as an EMT! 💼🎉

🤝 Powered by Community Partnerships:
We are thrilled to team up with Quapaw Nation EMS and Wyandotte Nation to make this dream program a reality! A huge shoutout to Kyle Arnall, Eric Reeves, Sam Freeman, and the incredible Quapaw Nation EMT crew who teach the class, mentor our students, and bring state-of-the-art medical equipment straight into the classroom. 🛠️💡

🏫 A State-of-the-Art Learning Space:
Housed in the brand-new tech building built by the Wyandotte Nation, this program has a dedicated space that allows us to extend this fantastic opportunity to neighboring schools! We’re so proud to host both Wyandotte and Quapaw students in our inaugural class and look forward to expanding to even more local schools in the future. 🌟

💬 What Our Students Are Saying:

"It is a really challenging course!"

"It is a lot of fun... the teachers are really funny and engaging!"

We love seeing high rigor paired with pure student engagement. Props to our future first responders for taking on the challenge! 🙌❤️
