Oh what a day it was!
We stumbled, bumbled, and tumbled through our track meet today. As coaches and admin we remembered why the saying "you can never be too prepared" is so famous. We found out fairly quickly that it's a right of passage for many young coaches to try and organize and run your own meet. We hope that our performance was like that of a duck; calm and cool on the surface, and frantically kicking down below. All in all, the events were ran, athletes knew their results, and everyone left in the same physical condition they arrived in (maybe a touch more sore).
We once again experienced a wide range of emotions. A couple of our older boys found success in events they've been practicing hard for, but had yet too see results. One of our girls moved up to the upper classmen division to compete and still blew away the competition, whether as a part of a team or showing off her athleticism in her solo events. Most of our relay teams were completely rebuilt about 15 minutes before the first starter pistol shot went off this morning, causing new groups to work together all over the divisions.
Resiliency was the word of the day. From getting a surprise 100 m Dash thrown on someone's plate, and replacing relay members minutes before the event, to trying to scramble to have all medals prepared for coaches as they were frantic to get on the buses and get home... we, as a team, took every obstacle one step at a time and completed the mission.

Reminder: Our Lucky 7 Conference meet is next Monday @ Miami. 6-12th grades will all be participating that day. School is virtual for the day, so we need every supporter we can get to come cheer on the full Bear Squad!
