Students, Families, and Friends:

For the last five years, I've had the absolute pleasure of being the individual to oversee our Wurtland Middle School social media accounts. I've loved getting to share Wildcats of the Week, the introduction of our career and technical education programs, and to highlight so many more of our exciting moments, each to be remembered in its own special regard. Now, it's time for a new beginning.

This beginning will be filled with so much wonder, and I'll have the privilege of sharing both little and big smiles with you on a daily basis. We'll still be Warriors who are Wild(cats) about the students who enter our building each day. We'll still be Wurtland, a family coming together to do amazing work for students, and we're embarking on a new journey together.

As we do so, I want to ask that you join us at our new Facebook home. Families, friends, and students, now loading, the Greenup County School of Innovation:

Please join us at our new home on Facebook, as we'll soon begin to share many updates for the upcoming school year. Please like, follow, and share this page. We also want to encourage you to join us on our new X account, . Most importantly, come with us on our new journey.

We'll keep this page open, so we can all reflect on the amazing memories we've made at Wurtland Middle School.

On to New Adventures,

Melissa Bowling

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - PLEASE READ AND SHARE

We're getting ready to launch the Greenup County School of Innovation, and this means we are working hard this summer to make some major changes! One of these changes requires the moving of Wurtland Elementary School into the Greenup County School of Innovation building (formerly Wurtland Middle School). Our move day is scheduled for June 20, 2025, and we are calling on our surrounding community for help!

If you're a parent or neighbor, we would love to invite you to help with our move. It will be a physically demanding day, so, please, do not attempt to overexert yourself. We want to invite individuals to participate in the excitement with us. It will require some heavy lifting, so please be prepared for some hard work but a magical day of giving back to Greenup County. If you are physically unable to contribute to the move, please know that we understand. We will be appreciative of your support from afar.

All volunteers will be assigned to small teams, and we will provide both breakfast and lunch on the move day! We invite both students and adults to participate. Each participating student will receive a letter noting his or her volunteer hours.

If you are willing to volunteer to participate in the move, please complete the linked Google Form: https://forms.gle/Xju2r1d9kg26FtWL9

Please reach out to Melissa Bowling, Assistant Principal, with any questions.

We appreciate your consideration of this BIG request, and we appreciate your support for the Greenup County School of Innovation!

ONE LAST SHOT

This final picture of the students, faculty, and staff at Wurtland Middle School captures more than just faces—it holds an array of memories, shared laughter, and the unbreakable bond of a school that has long been the heart of its community. There’s a quiet poignance in the image, as familiar bricks and proud columns stand behind a group united not only by place but by purpose. Faculty, staff, and students stand shoulder to shoulder, a testament to years of dedication, compassion, and mutual respect. It's evident that our people love our students deeply and have poured themselves into shaping not only minds but futures. Though the names of the doors may no longer boast Wurtland Middle School, this is not a goodbye—it's a new beginning. The spirit of Wurtland lives on in every life our building has touched.

As we move forward, we will continue to do that - change lives - in times of struggle and success, in times of courage and cowardice. Most importantly, we will step, arm in arm, into this new beginning TOGETHER. We understand the needed spirit of unity and the value of a team.

So, be on the lookout. We’re ready to do some amazing work under our new moniker, but, Wurtland, please remember that we love you, and we love your children. TOGETHER, we’re unstoppable.

It’s been an honor for each of us to be Wildcats.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION STUDENTS OF THE WEEK

Mrs. Dornon shares that these two students have become leaders in Health Science class. She notes that they caught on quickly to the athletic training and to the proper process for taping an injured wrist. They then became teachers and helped other students learn how to properly tape wrists.

We are so proud of these Wildcats!

Mrs. Bobbi Brumfield shares that Josie is an exceptional Wurtland Middle School student whose passion and talent for creative writing sets her apart from her peers. This year, Josie has started drafting her own fictional stories with the first few chapters completed. Keep writing, Josie!
