We know everyone’s excited to kick off the JFL cheerleading and football season! Registration will stay open through July 7. Once registration closes, coaches will begin reaching out with practice details. We can’t wait to get started! This is for students Pre-K through 6th grade.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - PLEASE READ AND SHARE

We're getting ready to launch the Greenup County School of Innovation, and this means we are working hard this summer to make some major changes! One of these changes requires the moving of Wurtland Elementary School into the Greenup County School of Innovation building (formerly Wurtland Middle School). Our move day is scheduled for June 20, 2025, and we are calling on our surrounding community for help!

If you're a parent or neighbor, we would love to invite you to help with our move. It will be a physically demanding day, so, please, do not attempt to overexert yourself. We want to invite individuals to participate in the excitement with us. It will require some heavy lifting, so please be prepared for some hard work but a magical day of giving back to Greenup County. If you are physically unable to contribute to the move, please know that we understand. We will be appreciative of your support from afar.

All volunteers will be assigned to small teams, and we will provide both breakfast and lunch on the move day! We invite both students and adults to participate. Each participating student will receive a letter noting his or her volunteer hours.

It has been my absolute honor to serve as the principal of Wurtland Elementary during her final ride. I didn’t know it when I accepted the position three years ago, but I soon came to realize, that Wurtland people are my kind of people. Humble, accepting, down to earth and willing to lay it all on the line for kids. I could never thank the students, staff, families and community enough for the special time I was able to experience here. I can only hope to have had a fraction of the impact on them that they have had on me.

Although I’ll be moving on to new adventures next school year, I’ll always believe in our Wurtland kids and be cheering in their corner. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

It's the end of an era, Warriors. Friday marked the last day of school for Wurtland Elementary. As our school closes and we prepare to merge and become Greenup County School of Innovation, we reflect on all the wonderful memories made within these walls. We love our Wurtland community and are excited to be all together in one location as we move forward. Thank you to all the staff, students, and families who have made Wurtland Elementary so special throughout the years. ❤️ Please feel free to share your favorite pictures or memories in the comments!
