Today a few of the team K9 worked 24 hour aged trails, and some HRD training was conducted. Handler equipment was checked, equipment needs identified. Good weather and good training.

💙 ✉️ INTRODUCING THE BLUE ENVELOPE PROGRAM 💙🚓
Lower Heidelberg Township Police Department is proud to participate in the Blue Envelope Program! This resource is designed to help make traffic stops safer, calmer, and more comfortable for drivers with special needs, including individuals who are nonverbal or may have difficulty communicating with a police officer.

The Blue Envelope provides a simple, direct way for a driver to alert an officer that they may need additional time, patience, or alternative methods of communication during an interaction.

💙 What’s inside the Blue Envelope? Drivers keep their essential vehicle documents stored safely inside, including:

-Driver’s license
-Vehicle registration
-Current insurance card
-Emergency contact details

The envelope also features clear tips for the officer on how the driver may communicate or respond under stress.

Please note: The Blue Envelope does not exempt drivers from traffic laws or traffic stops. Instead, it serves as a helpful tool to promote understanding, patience, and clear communication between law enforcement and our community.

THREE-DAY CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM (CIT) TRAINING offered to York County teachers, counselors, and school staff

From Katherine Gruver, CIT Coordinator -- We encourage each district to consider sending approximately two representatives to each training.

CIT-trained staff can bring valuable skills back to the school and classroom, helping staff recognize and respond to students who may be experiencing a crisis.

Some of the benefits of having CIT-trained staff in schools include:

• Improved student academic performance and grades
• Decreased disciplinary issues
• Decreased truancy and attendance-related issues
• Increased staff confidence in responding to students experiencing a crisis
• Improved ability to recognize and appropriately respond to mental health and behavioral concerns

The CIT mission is to provide individuals with the knowledge and skill set needed to better support and respond to individuals experiencing a crisis.
