On May 20th the 2nd graders celebrated a year of hard work with an unforgettable trip to Jewel Cave! Students explored a 1/2-mile winding tour route, climbed 734 stairs, and experienced the beauty hidden deep underground in the cave’s chilly 49-degree temperatures.

This hands-on learning experience brought science to life as students observed incredible cave formations like cave bacon, cave straws, calcite crystals, boxwork, cave popcorn, flowstone, and draperies. One of the most memorable moments was experiencing total darkness inside the cave and discovering just how unique and amazing our world can be.

The highlight of the trip was watching many of our students be officially sworn in as Jewel Cave Jr. Rangers, complete with their very own badge! Mrs. R & Mrs. E are so proud of all the growth, curiosity, perseverance, and hard work their students have shown this year. What a fun and meaningful way to celebrate an amazing 2nd grade year!

Yesterday we had our end of the year ceremony! There we gave awards to some of our outstanding students and teachers, said goodbye to our sixth graders, and bid some of our wonderful staff a fond farewell. Thank you for a wonderful year, have a fun filled summer!!! ❤️

We had guest speakers today at Cottonwood! We had speakers from conservation, the buffalo ranch, ems, Zumba, the railroad, and Mrs. Taylor on baby chicks!

Our Cottonwood Hope Squad, friends, and family got to participate in a 5K color run this evening. It was cold, but we had a blast!! Thanks to the families of our students who came out to support our group and a wonderful cause!!

Our Honor Choir kids have been practicing since mid January. They had the opportunity to sing with over 130 other 6th graders in the District! They preformed March 31st at the Camplex in Gillette WY. We are so proud of them and their instructor Mandy Justin Hentsch Robb!
