No volunteers, no event. 😬 👻 What strategies have helped your PTO get more families involved...especially when it's a last-minute scramble? We'd love to hear what's working for your group! Check out our list of 15+ ways to recruit volunteers - link in the comments.
While we were so excited to see lots of new and familiar faces our first meeting, we were so sad when only one singular parent showed up last night to our PTO Fall Fest working meeting. This was an important meeting where we were to meet and get Fall Fest in order (and then briefly touch on Santa Store). It was meant to find all the decorations and supplies, have people pick stations to volunteer for, and finalize all the awesome details to make this super fun event possible!
We know people are busy. We know nights are hard. We know people are stretched more than ever. But without anyone who shows up, we just cannot have awesome PTO events. 😢
We are a 503c charitable organization- we have to take votes, fundraise, and rely on volunteers. We love all our students and our school so much. We pour our hearts out and stay up late long after our day jobs to plan, decorate, and bring the magic. But we just do not know what the answer is. So we’re asking you. ❤
How do we keep PTO alive? How would you like your school PTO to be ran? Do we get rid of regular monthly meetings and go towards quarterly meetings with sign up genius and survey links organized by event? Do you prefer virtual meetings? Do we just go back to not being able to have certain events? We debated on making this post, we love PTO so much and we love putting on all the events and family things. But this post is truly asking you, what would make it easier for parents to be involved with the school and PTO events? We are completely open to suggestions and willing to try anything. We are just parents who care deeply about our school and want to make it a super cool place for our kids! Can you help us?
