Please Vote May 12th!
There is a big decision before us on Tuesday. I am not asking you to vote a certain way, but I am asking you to show up. Show up to the polls on Tuesday. Show up the next day and help us move forward in whichever path we find ourselves on.
Regardless of Tuesday’s outcome, there is a lot of work to do. Yes, either path will require additional funds at some point to be successful and sustainable. I believe that if we stand alone that need is immediate. I also believe that if consolidated we have time to continue working and potentially build something amazing together. I would rather put in the work for opportunities not yet defined than to fight for survival.
Those are my beliefs. If you would like to discuss further or share your point of view call me anytime. If you still have questions before tomorrow I would be happy to discuss them with you.
Either way, I continue to urge myself and all of you to do a little better everyday. Our kids deserve that and so much more.

Just to clarify- “Wrenshall residents” here means Wrenshall school district residents. We’ve had a few questions around this.

Concerns indeed-
I by no means wish to diminish or dismiss the experiences of any family, but I would like to offer the following context in regard to the Wrenshall/Carlton Better Together post from this morning.

I understand these questions raise a lot of concern and uncertainty. In truth, even the school board is not given all the details of these matters unless the complaint involves the superintendent or another school board member.
There is a definite process to be adhered to in these cases, and standard HR practices to follow once investigations are concluded.
Below you will see the update the board recently received from school administration.

“In short, MDE did find the employees guilty of their actions, but also determined that school administration investigated the incidents, and provided consequences and also training for the staff to adjust their behavior in the future. MDE did not state that the school district was at fault, but rather that this was an action of an individual employee.

It would not be wise to impose a second consequence as a result of MDE or the court's findings. If MDE or the court would have taken the person's licensure or restricted the employee from having contact with any student in the future then we would be obligated to comply with directives”

I believe we should always strive for improvement, and I invite you to join me in that endeavor.

Carlton-Wrenshall Town Hall Meetings with Superintendents:
Dr. Schill and Mr. Messman will conduct a series of town hall meetings regarding consolidation to answer community members' questions. The first meeting will be hosted at 6:00 p.m. on April 28th in the Wrenshall Band Room.
