Worthington Wolves Sweep The Battle of Hard Road And Win The O.C.C. Championship.

Part 2 of The Battle of Hard Road did not disappoint. The Dublin Davis Irish got out to a fast start scoring 6 runs in the 2nd inning, but the Wolves fought back to take control and sweep the series.

Elijah Rhea did the Irish no favors picking up four hits over five at bats and leading the Worthington Wolves to a comeback win over Dublin Davis Middle School by a score of 11-8. Rhea singled in the first, singled in the second, tripled in the third, and singled in the fourth. The Wolves powerful offense tallied 13 hits on the day. Rhea, Mac Ferguson, and Dante Pallante all collected multiple hits for Worthington. But it was Matthew Scragg who saved the day in relief. Scragg was credited with the victory for Worthington after taking over on the bump late in the second inning. The southpaw allowed only two hits and two runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out 11.

The Worthington Wolves (12-1) finished the season with the best record in school history and won the outright Ohio Capital Conference Championship.

The Worthington Wolves Claim Victory Over The Upper Arlington Hastings Middle School Golden Bears in Blow-Out Fashion, 14-1.

The Worthington Wolves sailed to an easy victory over the UA Hastings Golden Bears 14-1 on Wednesday night. Gavin Starks led the Wolves on offense going a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate while adding a walk, 3 runs scored, 3 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. The Wolves combined for 13 total hits in the game. Starks, Elijah Rhea, Mac Ferguson, and Dante Pallante each racked up multiple hits for the Wolves. Pallante also got the win for the Wolves as the pitcher went five innings, allowing only 1 hit and striking out 10.

The Wolves advance to 11-1 on the season. Their season finale will be at home on Thursday night at 5:00 pm against Dublin Davis MS. The rivals will clash for Part 2 of the Battle of Hard Road series.

Worthington Wolves Slide Into Blowout Win 8-2 at Hilliard Weaver Middle School.

The Worthington Wolves handled the Hilliard Weaver Middle School Wildcats to walk away with an 8-2 victory on Tuesday night. The Wolves got on the board in the first inning when Dante Pallante grounded out to score an RBI. The Wildcats fought back initially to take a 2-1 lead after the second inning, but it was all Worthington after that. The Wolves took the lead back for good with three runs in the third inning. Mac Ferguson singled to knock in one run and then Pallante grounded out again, but claimed two more RBIs. The Wolves later slammed the door when they scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Wolves offense in the big inning was sparked by singles from Elijah Rhea and Gavin Starks.

It was Ferguson who once again led the Worthington Wolves to victory on the pitcher's mound. The pitcher surrendered two runs on three hits over four innings, striking out six. John Oxley threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen to finish off the Wildcats.

The Wolves collected nine total hits. Starks and Oliver Flynn-Miller each managed multiple hits for the Wolves. Flynn-Miller also made a noteworthy defensive diving catch in centerfield to end a Wildcat rally in the second inning.

The Wolves travel to Upper Arlington Hastings Middle School at 5:00 pm on Wednesday night. The Wolves record has improved to 10-1 on the season with only two more games remaining.

A Tale Of Two Games. Wolves Experience Both Heartbreak and Joy on Saturday.

Saturday was a day of both heartbreak and joyful celebration for the Worthington Wolves. The Worthington Wolves, Worthington Cardinals and Lancaster Gales competed in a full day of 3 team round robin play.

In the first of their two games, the Wolves played the Lancaster Gales (9-1-1) in a 6 inning battle. Unfortunately, the Wolves slow start and numerous mental errors proved costly as they surrendered 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and fell 5-9 in 6 innings of play. The loss was the first of the season for the Wolves.

However, the Wolves rebounded in the second game to defeat their crosstown rivals and win the WoTown Showdown by a score of 6-1. The rivals each threw their Aces in the Showdown with Dante Pallante pitching for the Worthington Wolves (9-1) and Samuel Shankman pitching for the Worthington Cardinals (11-4). Pallante threw a complete game going 6 full innings while striking out 10 Cardinal batters. The Wolves offense scattered ten hits in the contest. Mac Ferguson, John Oxley, Elijah Rhea, and Pallante all had multiple hits for the Wolves. Ferguson led the Wolves on offense going a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate. This time the Wolves’ defense was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Oliver Flynn-Miller secured the victory with a bases loaded diving catch in centerfield to end the game.

With the victory, the Wolves tied the best record in school history (9-1) and claimed at least a share of the league title. The Wolves have 4 league games remaining and are in action this week on Tuesday at Hilliard Weaver, Wednesday at Upper Arlington Hastings and Thursday at home versus Dublin Davis. The Wolves also host Hilliard Heritage next week. Winning 2 of the 4 remaining games will secure an outright Ohio Capital Conference title for the Wolves.

Wolves Win The War!

The game that everyone had circled on their calendar did not disappoint. The Wolves traveled to Olentangy Orange on Wednesday night to take on another premier middle school program. The game was a dogfight to the very end, but the Wolves emerged victorious and escaped with their perfect record still intact.

The game was tied after the first inning at 1-1 until the Wolves broke the stalemate in the top of the fourth by scoring two runs to take a 3-1 lead. Just when it looked like the Wolves had control, Orange rallied scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a commanding 6-3 lead into the final inning. Facing adversity and with their perfect season in jeopardy for the first time, the pack united and went on the attack. Josh Richey led the attack with a line drive single to the left center gap. After Richey stole second, Oliver Flynn-Miller joined him on the bases with a walk. Matthew Scragg then singled to load the bases before John Oxley reached on a fielder’s choice to bring Richey home from third and leaving runners on the corners. Nolan Ruck walked to once again load the bases before back to back singles from Eli Jasinski and Elijah Rhea scored Flynn-Miller, Oxley, Ruck and Jasinski. Worthington fans erupted in jubilation as their beloved Wolves fought free from the jaws of defeat.

Dante Pallante started the game for Worthington. Facing twenty-four hitters from the best offensive opponent to date, the righty only surrendered three hits over four and a third innings while fanning seven. Nevertheless, it was Nate Gattshall who earned the win for the Wolves. Gattshall allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings of relief.

The wolves offense was spread out with Pallante, Ruck, Rhea, Richey, Jasinski, Scragg, Oxley, Mac Ferguson and Liam Moore all collecting one hit each.

The undefeated 8-0 Wolves travel to Upper Arlington Hastings Middle School on Thursday night for a 5:00 pm start.

Wolves Dominate On Special Night.

The Worthington Wolves took control and never looked back as they cruised to victory playing on the varsity field at Worthington Kilbourne High School. Matthew Scragg and Josh Richey combined to throw a no-hitter as the Worthington Wolves defeated Hilliard Memorial Middle School 16-4 on Tuesday night.

The Wolves got things moving in the first inning, when Dante Pallante singled on a 3-2 count, scoring the first run. The Wolves put up six runs in the first and again in the second inning. The Wolves tallied eight total hits in the game. Richey, Elijah Rhea, and Pallante all collected multiple hits for the Worthington Wolves. Scragg also singled while Richey and Liam Moore both hit triples.

Scragg (3-0) earned the win for the Wolves. The lefty allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out six. Richey threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen to preserve the no-hitter.

The 7-0 Wolves travel to Olentangy Orange on Wednesday night for a 5:00 pm start.
